Mother Nature saw fit to thoroughly wet WV down for the past few days, so it seemed like a good time for Alegany to take spkldoe and me on a waterfall run.

Our first butt break was at Hawk’s Nest State Park Overlook into the New River Gorge National Park

Found Limey a wier.

This round hobbit house of hand cut stone was a potential new tag in the Moto-Tag game (pin up chick w/ helmet hair optional).

First waterfall, Kanawha Falls, Glen Ferris, WV (pronounced Kuh Gnaw Wuh) at Kanawha Falls State Park located just below where the Gauley and New Rivers converge to form the Great Kanawha.

Flotsam from the recent high water

Cathedral Falls, Galuey Bridge, WV

Laurel Creek (one of 100s in WV) along 16S near Beckwith, WV

Man made falls at the Laurel Creek grist mill. The water wheel is gone now but the old millhouse perseveres.

A Ural hack and farm scene behind it along Cunard Road near Fayetteville, WV

We stopped for a picnic and to enjoy the peaceful setting at Cunard river access. Chariots await the river rats when they finish running the upper New River whitewater...their idea of nirvana at these flow levels.

Cunard Road Falls

Train station at Prince, WV. Soon to be refurbished in anticipation of the nearby new Summit Bechtel Family National (Boy) Scout Reserve. Amtrak to D. C. anyone?

Water was cascading out of the mountains everywhere you looked.

Glade Creek Falls and grist mill at Babcock State Park, New Haven, WV. One of the most photographed spots in WV.

We couldn’t find any good twisties today, so these had to do. :D

Hoebster, you missed my sarcasm...neenernet lacks tone...as evidenced by the suggested speed signs in the video.

Still operational during tourist season. Buckwheat flour and such available for purchase after you watch it being ground.

I was hoping you'd notice! I shot some of those pics just for you Don. One week and a 2000 feet drop in elevation does wonders for 'greenness.'

Still a few days off in the high country.

What backrest is that?
A true high tech solution of the KLR kind Ryan. The pad itself is a leftover from a Premier Cycle Accessories backrest for an FJR and the rest is 'KLR-ed.'

Spkldoe is very content with it.

Fantastic ride report. I love it when the water is running everywhere like that. I'm always happy to see you in places I haven't been. I often feel like I'm re-tracing my rides. Good to know there is more in WV to discover. Love that place.
