The only negative I saw with the TT skid when i was looking is the mounts are a bit wimpy, especially the back ones.

I asked TT if the skidplate would support the bike on an atv lift to get the wheels off the ground and they said probably not, it is just for protection and not to support the bike. I doubt any of the skid plate will though. I have no complaints with it and would recommend it. I was sold by price and the stainless steel reinforcement down the center of it.

Can the Touratech Skidplate be removed easily for oil changes?

It sure looks like it. Only 4 fasteners and off she goes.

Certainly better than the 7 fasteners I have to remove to take the AltRider plate off. That is the only thing I don't like about the Altrider. It only takes a few minutes, but I have to remember to take the plate off while the bike is cold or you run a real risk of burning the crap out of your hands removing the bolts by the exhaust headers and cat (don't ask me how I know this!).

I have it and it seems fine. Fits over stock black plastic one so I left it on.

Why did you left the stock black plastic? Don’t you think is not necessary?

I had a Touratech Skid plate in my GSA and was very strong. So I also have one for the ST and it looks fine. Strong and easy to fit.
Not difficult to change oil.
I put it without the stock plastic because I thought it doesn’t fit.

I don't know, I'm anal I guess. During fitting when I aligned it up, it fit so I just bolted it on. I will probably leave it off at the next oil change

How does this skid plate compare with the Yamaha one? They look similar but different mounting. I am also thinking of Linex on it for added strength and looks. Anyone done this?
