About $116 for the front and $135 for the rear.

I am trying a set of Conti Trail Attacks. They have come out with Trail Attack 2's and the previous Trail Attacks are available for a very good price. I got two of the rears for $120 each and a front for $126 on Amazon.

I just wore out a pair of Tourance Next. I was happy with them for awhile, but the front has a really weird wear pattern that makes cornering increasingly difficult as they wear. I replaced them with the OEM Battle Wings, which I like much better overall.
interesting. As I said, I don't have enough miles on mine to comment.
that said, my fz09 has the nexts on. At roughly 5xxxxkm on the rear, the wear bars are showing. So they will probably not wear much better on the Tenere....

I read somewhere where these tires caused a lot of headshake when used on the front.

I love how well the The Anakee III's stick on dry and wet pavement. They are much stickier then the OEM stones or Hidenau K-76. I have not had them on long enough to comment on mileage. I have not had them off pavement much either, but the The Anakee III's are obviously street biased tire.

I read that also in an older thread in ADV that some had that problem. I just finished 400 miles of some great twisty Ozark roads and some desolate roads where the speeds were pretty "elevated" and they are steady as a rock on my ES. I just now got on line and ordered another set while they are still available at that price. The ride seems more compliant that the BW's that I used on my 12 and were OEM on my 14. Overall, I like them.

That's discouraging. I have a set of the Tourance Next out in the garage waiting for me to mount up in a couple days. Hopefully they're not another repeat of the awful wear I had with the Anakee III front. (First time I ever wore out a front before the rear).

I'm tough on my tire budget, (2up, fully loaded 95% of the time). I'm right at 15K miles and the Tourance Next I'm about to install will be my 5th (actually 4-1/2) set...

OEM BattlwWing E Spec... Not bad. Nice even wear both front and rear. Looking back they're the best bang for the buck that I've seen so far.
Michelin Anakee III... Awful...Weird front wear pattern and it was completely done (almost dangerous) maybe 2K miles before the rear. Never experienced that before.
Michelin Pilot Road III Trails...Superb road tire. Unbelievable grip in the wet. Rear goes away pretty quick but nice even wear and one front easily lasted through 2 rears.
Tourance Next... TBA

Dunlop TR91's grip very well and last reasonably well. They are my tire of choice.
+ 1

I've run through 2 sets of the TR91's. Very quick turn in to lighten up the handling a bit on the road and in the corners and the run quite.

Heidenau K76, I had the K60 Scouts they lasted 16k km but my riding and commute did not need the off road so much so I changed they are looking and feeling really good.
Anybody else have any experience with the K76's? I have a set ready to go on and haven't heard much about them.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I have been a long-time conti person and was going to go with the trail attack 2 but now I found a place with the road attack 2. Anyone use the RA2? I have used Road Attacks on all my previous machines and was very happy with them.

I used the Road Attack's and the Road Attack 2's on my 2003 FZ1 before the Super Tenere came into my garage. The Road Attack 2's are every bit as good as the Road Attack's but better, and they wore better than the originals.

You might also want to take a look at Continental's new TKC 70, described as a 70/30 tire with the road grip of the Trail Attack with better dirt performance characteristics...

I'm a big fan of the Avon Distanzia. Have had the front for over 7,000 miles and was well over 5,000 on the rear with at least 1/2 tread remaining when I picked up a nail and had to replace it. I ride a lot off highway, rain or shine (they are great in the wet!) as well as graded back roads. Good on gravel or dirt road/hardpack. Haven't really tried them on trails, but that's not my way of riding. I may switch to a more 50/50 tire next time, but if i stick with a 90/10 I'm staying with these.

I agree Bob, I think they are the best value and for me are good for around 8,000 miles on the S10 (9-10K on the Strom) . I put 87,000 miles on my V-Strom (same size tires) and 44,000 miles so far on the S10 and I have tried most of the major tires.
The Battlewing is still my favorite all around tire but for pure road trips and high mileage, I have been using the new RP4's. I did a coast to coast and back in Jul/Aug and had 3K miles on a set of RP4's before I left. I had over 10K on them when I got back and I think the rear could have gone another 1K or so. I had to put another rear RP4 on due to an upcoming trip. That is the most I have gotten out of a rear on the S10 so far. The front is still fine and I expect it will out live the new rear. These are NOT the trail version but the regular Road Pilot 4. The trail for some reason has softer compound in the center so I assume it will get much less mileage.
