Hey guys im partially new to the Super Tenere World, bought my bike at 10k miles(2016 super tenere)
Recently i been noticing that when i use the throttle it is kind of sluggish and kind of different sensation in the low RPM maybe 2k to 3k.
Anything above that and it works fine.
I have so far noticed this in the 1st and 2nd gear, i have not payed too much attention on the other ones.
Anyone seen this issue? im looking at it, it might be the TBS? It kind of feels like a churn, or vibration on that RPM range.
Thanks guys!.

Please be gentle lol im a new rider too.

Sounds like you inadvertently put it in touring mode.

::026:: I was going to suggest putting it into "S" mode, but he may be right, you might have already been in it.

Check your air box for debris and your spark plug wells for water. It could be as simple as some new restriction in the air box, (mouse nest?). The far left spark plug well is notorious for collecting water during a rain ride or if the bike is parked outside in the rain. It can cause some shorting and diminished power. You're over due for checking plugs and the air filter, (8k), but neither should need replacement just yet.

Also check if you have excess slop in the throttle cable. Sometimes the adjuster nut on the cable, (under the black sleeve), doesn't get locked down. Adjust to minimal slack, per your preference, and the throttle is easier to modulate.

I'm going out on a limb, but was your last bike carberated? Most riders that don't like S mode come from a carb'd bike. There is a learning curve, both from moving from carb to EFI, and from EFI to Throttle by wire. Going strait from carb to throttle by wire is a steep curve. EFI guys typically try T and S and never move back to T after trying S. :)

I agree with Eric. I was having very similar symptoms and did both the new air filter and plugs.

Not terrible but time for a change...

2 are very corroded on the other end. Yikes!

Blew out the wells and used dielectric grease on the caps. Hope that helps keep the water out.

I've been riding EFI since '04, and the ST1300 had fairly drastic on/off fuel delivery, but the Tenere throttle is unlike anything else I've ridden. I'm not bitchin', I LOVE this bike, but you're very right about the learning curve, and not going back to "T". In MY opinion, heavy traffic is what "S" is designed for; no throttle hesitation. You just have to calibrate your right wrist. ::025::

I'm with Thorstitan in using T mode for commuting and city traffic.

I agree with EricV in replacing the plugs. Once the tank is up and air filter off for cleaning, you might as well change the plugs and do a throttle body sync if you know how. I find doing these two just freshens the performance up a bit at about halfway between the 26,000 mile big maintenance intervals and you have it all open in front of you for any of the three.

T=Touring, S=Sport, interesting I never was sure what T and S meant. I’ve tried Sport a few times but never really liked it because it just seemed to jerky for me, I much more prefer smooth.

I use "S" for "spouring" or "tourt." ::025:: "S" does take practice, but once the left/right hand/wrist calibration is complete, there is no substitution. ::025::
