Been riding 30+ years on just about every kind of bike that's not made in Germany or Italy(nothing against them). Current rides are 15 FZ07 and 06 Vmax.

Been looking at some more long distance bikes and keep coming back to the S10. Have considered the VStrom & Versys but really like the shaft drive and the prices are coming down into my price range. Still on the fence about the weight and spoke wheels. Haven't made up my mind yet, so I'll be "poking" around here a bit.

Welcome Paul
I think these are the best long distance bike out there.
Plus they will take you places you wouldn't dream a bike like this could go.

Iowa?

Isn't it all flat and only full of tractors and Harleys?

;)

Seriously, we have a great Iowa group - welcome aboard.

I have about 10,000 miles on my S10 and have had no issues with the spokes. The weight only shows up in slow off-road stuff and if you have to back it up an incline. I've never ridden either of the other bikes you mentioned but I'll never go back to a chain.

I thought about an S10 for a few years and finally got one last year.............best bike I've ever owned. It eats up the miles, weight is not an issue except as already mentioned in the last post and no chain is so nice! As most on here will say, the more you ride it the more you like it ! Get one you won't regret it ::008::

Ankeny!!!! That's where I hang my hat. There are some smoking deals on used and leftover Teneres. These bikes are a bargain and very versatile. Not likely you would be disappointed with a Tenere in the garage. If you have not rode one yet PM me and take mine for a spin. Great bikes..

I may take you up on that in a couple of weeks. Do you want to ride my FZ07 or Vmax? Don't see a lot of S10's around here.

If you have not ridden his yet, PM me and we can swap 10 for Vmax tomorrow. 60 degrees and looking for a riding partner.
