I felt like I was going 35, the office indicated he had information that indicated something more like 50 in a 35.
Just 2 hrs in to the first ride on Tuesday after taking delivery of my much awaited new motorcycle, I found myself in front of the dreaded flashing blue lights. "Just get this bike" he asked, yep just picked it up today. Nice, may I see your license and wait right here he said.
after a short trip to his car and back, he said , you got a new bike and I am going to give you a break, no ticket, today is your lucky day.
Then after the formal stuff was over he wanted to talk motorcycles, turns out he's a rider, his wife rides and son too.
Looks like it really was my lucky day.

OH and by the way my new Tenere rocks.

Glad that worked out okay for you! Maybe he just wanted to see the bike up close. ;)

Same thing happened to me in 1986 when I purchased my new Yamaha Fazer. He just wanted to see the bike. He asked me what the speed limit was, I said 45, and he said it was 35 MPH, he then started asking me about the motorcycle. At the end, he told me to be careful and watch my speed. The next day I drove the same road and the sign I had already passed the day before when he stopped me showed 45 MPH. :)

Anyone know just how accurate the speedometer is?
Several accounts of being of 10%......

Cop story: I was on my V-twin with a jockey shifter. ( hand shift, clutch on the floor board-no clutch lever) I was at a red light waiting, a cop pulls up behind me and we are both waiting for 30 sec together.. He flips on his lights and hits his siren... So I pull over to the curb so he can race to the scene and he just sits there. I wave him by and his lights are on and he has the siren still going and we have never left the light...... I'm like 'what the heck'.......
Not knowing what the heck is up with this guy, I turned off the bike, got off and walked to the side walk. He asked about a BS brake light or something that I had to show that worked... ( of course it worked, he saw it sitting at the RED light).... The he started asking about the bike, then the jockey shifter, Etc... With an inquisitive persona about him... For two seconds it was like listing to a little kid... (this is all taking part at the red-green-red-green-red light intersection) He then gets a call on his walky-talky and he said be safe have a good night...................... Never asked for license or insurance, Etc..... He just wanted to talk custom bikes for five minutes in a busy intersection.......... What tha ? O0

I got pulled over on I-10 in Arizona, once, and ended up chitchatting with the cop for almost an hour. He just wanted to talk about bikes. A border patrol cop car checked on him while we were chatting, said they'd seen us sitting there a long time and wanted to make sure he was OK. :) I suppose it is boring sitting out there in the desert running speed enforcement.

I've got a few stories like these too! Ha ha! I used to ride bikes with a LEO years ago. He rarely ran at the speed limit.

You lucky dog. I got stopped too on the ride back from Cullman, AL. I went around a car waiting to turn left since I had about 5 feet on the right of the car of paved shoulder, but the officer pulled me over. No ticket though. He told me I needed a tag from NC and could get before leaving to buy the bike. It's a one way permit--didn't know that.

But you are right, it is deceptively quick. I'll put some comments in the place for it, but I was surprised at first since my V-Stroms felt pretty smooth and my FJR and ST1300 are very smooth. This bike at first felt like a big thumper with twice the muscle. Maybe that is the character of the parallel twin. It felt more like a GS I rode for a short time once. I have bonded more with it and think it is fine, but different than me other bikes. Man does it have long legs that just love the twisties. I spent more time in S mode on two lanes and T on interstate. 46-47 mpg. most of the way.

Nice one Bob. On the speedo, I installed the speedDRD and after several test/comparisons to my GPS, I settled on -07.1% which yields slightly over what the GPS is showing when holding a steady speed. So, maybe off like 7.5%.
