Well my dreams of owning one just got that much closer and I am even more motivated.. there is a ST at our Dealership in Esquimalt that was available for test rides. Trying to be objective while riding...but all the research I have done..only confirmed the fact I WANT ONE. What struck me..and I have seen it posted a few times..is once the ST is underway it is soooo nimble. Considering it weights about 6 pounds less than my VMAX.. the drive was so different..yet steller. Now the deal with my wife is 1) sell my dear VMAX AKA Brutus.. and 2) when I return from Sea ( Im in the Can Navy) I can go forth and get one. :p
Just wanted to add my 2 bits that never having a New Motorcycle before...what a Bike/ platform to choose from
Best Regards..

Something extra to look forward to on your return. :-\ It will be a whole new world for riding on a new Tenere coming off a VMax. Take care.

You chose right ride, Sailor! :) Cans huh? I remember watching you guys with your screws catching air and bows submerged from the deck of our relatively stable carrier. Now those are some sea legs!

Stay safe out there.

Test rides are great. However, ownership is better. The test bike I rode was pretty flogged. Enjoy your cruise ( retired USNavy here, had a nice time as your outfit's guest over at Halifax years ago) I certainly get where you're coming from about affording a new motorcycle. As a member of the canoe club, new ones were rare.
As for handling: it makes a better sport bike than sport bikes if the back road is really rough. They run better when broke in. (duh)
