I'm needing some local knowledge to complete some trip planning for the first week in July. We would be starting from around Crescent Lake, taking a side trip to Crater then down the 138 with the intent to divert on Steamboat Creek (?) over to Oakridge. The Forest Service maps indicate its possible. One Super Tenere and 2 Vstrom 650's rental with somewhat novice riders. They have no gravel much less single track riding experience. We would want as much pavement as possible. We are NOT hard core offroad riders. Easy gravel would be ok. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!! If there's a better jump off point than Steamboat, that would be fine too. Just looking for a way to loop to Oakridge without having to go all the way down to I5. Could do a route through to Cottage Grove as well if necessary.
