Hey next time you run this loop I'll join you.. I'm down at the lake.
I'll holler! Spring often a bit earlier/warmer down that way compared to here. Maybe we can get something going around 1st of March.

Gorgeous ride today.. I got up Apple Orchard Mountain (4225') about 2:30 and it got a little chilly as expected. I saw the FAA radar from many miles away at the bottom of the mountain and was surprised I could ride right up to it. Kinda freaky up there by yourself sitting in front of that big thing.. I'm sure I was on camera or something but it was impressive to say the least. Many thanks on the route.. I'll definitely go it again when I have some time to explore some more of the off road trails.

(I can't explain why all these pictures are upside down, I'm pretty tech savvy but I've always had the hardest time posting my iPhones in this forum. Hopefully you're on an iPad- ha)

Cool. I knew it was called Apple Orchard Mtn; but had no idea why. I knew you could drive right up to the radar thingy; but had no idea it was former AF. I just assumed it was a doppler installation for NOAA...who knew? Thanks for setting that straight. Glad you had a good run.

Inspired by your post, I ran a portion from Covington to Goshen Pass on Sunday. Maybe we can run the loop at the same time someday. And you're right, I bet there is a truckload of side roads to be explored. I could run VA 56 all day and be happy.

Hey guys..

I'm planning a trip with a few friends in early April starting in Asheville, NC and working our way back up to VA where we'll explore for a few days and maybe venture a little into WV as well. Wondered if anybody may have some suggestions about other loops from 5-6 hours or as long as 2-3 days. We're in the early planning stages right now so I'm open to all suggestions.
