I love the stock side cases. I replaced the stock security torx screws with socket head cap screws to make checking them easier. A couple of times a year i snug them up. I have never lost my inner tumblers. If this is the least of my problems i consider myself lucky! My wife's Suzuki DL650 Adventure has worse luggage locks by far. It could be worse. If you rode a KTM or BWM you would never have to worry about your luggage locks. They would never wear out because your bike would spend most of its time at the dealer waiting for electronic parts that are on back order.
