Was spending the weekend at Quail Creek Reservoir with family and got sick Friday night. Heading home Sat morning after some great chicken noodle soup ftom Chick-Fil-A in St George Utah, I headed out on I-15 south. I spy a set of twin lights tracking me down and low-and-behold it was another S-10. The first one I have ever seen just out riding. I pulled in behind him and we went through the Virgin River Gorge. We pulled over and greeted each other. He is Benjamin 1031 on the forum, new to the community riding a black 2012. Super nice guy riding an Iron Butt 1,000 from Colorado to Vegas and back. I invited him to the next rally, when and wherever that might be. :)
Nice meeting you Benjamin and safe travels home. See you soon. Luke

Love the area for hiking. If he hasn't moved yet, EricV is there.

Yep, still here outside St George in Ivins. Still trying to sell the house.

Back to working full time and currently not getting much riding in. I had over 50 hours this week on Wed. Going back in to work shortly to prep for another week of Huntsman World Senior Games. The wife went riding with friend Thurs-Fri-Sat up at the Zion Pondarosa resort and looks like she had a great time. I'm sure I'll hear all about it at some point.

Cool to meet another S10 rider on the road. I see another S10 local to me here in Ivins, but he's a very casual rider and I haven't had a chance to speak to him. No gear, just light day rides it would appear. Older retired fellow from the look of things. Older being 65+. ;D

I had just got gas and was settling into the saddle for the last leg of my iron butt before my turn around. Low and behold I see a fellow adv bike!! I pass and give a little wave and as I pick up speed to make the canyon a little more interesting this guy sticks right behind me so I'm mesquite I pull over and meet a great guy! I'll stay posted on the rally and see if I can't make it to meet more of you guys!! BTW I finished my iron butt and now I don't ever have to do it again!! Haha

A. It's not done until you submit the paperwork.

B. You mean until you decide to do the BBG...

Welcome to the forum and soon, to the IBA.

I stand corrected. I have finished the riding portion of my iron butt attempt. For me it has always been a bucket list item and I'm glad I did it. It was a lot different than I expected. I took more time at my stops than I ever thought I would but being as inexperienced as I was I needed the longer breaks...

Twolukes... just FYI grand junction co is right at 500 miles away from you and I'd be happy to sign your witness form... just sayin

:D See, you're already setting the hook for Twolukes. ::008:: He can ride over for lunch and use the receipt for his turn around documentation. ::012::

You might find the long distance bug can sneak up on you. Think of all the new places you can go ride in a weekend. I would sometimes do a undocumented BBG, just to get to a new area, ride all weekend, then do a BBG home, taking 4 days total and showing up to work Tuesday. Used to really blow the minds of some of my co-workers when they would ask what I'd done that weekend and my answers would be things like "went to Alaska" or "went to Albuquerque, NM", etc. (I lived in Portland, OR at the time.) Endurance rallies can suck you in too. Scavenger hunt by motorcycle. And you'll see things and places you would never think to go find on your own.

Do what makes you grin in your helmet.

I hate to be ignorant but... What is a BBG??
Ignorance is a correctable condition! ::008:: Good on your for asking. A lack of knowledge that can be easily taken care of. BBG = Bun Burner Gold which is an Iron Butt Association certified ride of 1500 miles in 24 hours. It's considered an extreme ride and although is only an average of 62.5 mph over the 24 hours, is all about managing your stopped time, not about going fast. It takes the challenge up a notch. There is also a BB1500 - Bun Burner 1500 miles in 36 hours. Some start the BBG ride and end up with a BB1500 or a long Saddle Sore ride. I have a 1120ish mile SS1K ride because I just lost the love for the BBG when I realized I was going to be riding another 400 miles on interstate in the pouring rain in MT. Turned around and completed the shorter ride, albeit a longer than usual Saddle Sore 1000 ride.
