I would like to connect Yamaha's oem auxilary lights to work only as running lights (On dip beam) only.I was thinking of using an additional relay, so I am only interested in energising the relay with the dip beam. Any help gratefully accepted.

You could use a N/C really and use the hot wire that activates the high beam shutter or servo. When on low beams the lights would be on, and when switched to high beam they would go off.

I have my led driving lights on a separate really, and they only come on with a handle bar switch. But I can use them on high beam and low beam. Or not at all..

I have an answer though it's probably not what you were hoping for. It is a yellow wire coming out of the LH handle bar switch assembly, then goes straight to the high beam solenoids from there. ....so it doesn't pass under the RH panel at all.

Actually it does. The hot wire for the solenoids is pink and the hot for the headlight is blue. If you look in this thread, you will see it.
The wire you're talking about could be a ground or a trigger, but it is not the hot for the solenoids.

I know it is in the right side cover somewhere. lol Look for connector with blue, pink, brown and black wires. Then test them.
The wire you want is the Pink one.
Look at this thread and you will find a pic of it.

Here's what I have, starting at the headlight relay. At the relay, the wire that runs to a 10 pin connector for the handle bar switches is 'Y/B' (yellow and black) and what I would term the 'hot' lead because it always has power while the engine is running. That wire runs to the input terminal of the Hi/Lo beam switch. Coming out of that switch is a Yellow wire that exits the 10pin connector then goes to a four pin connector. Coming out the four pin connector is a pink wire that goes to the solenoids. You could tap off of either the yellow or pink wire. Now where I goofed in my other post is that four pin connector is probably under the RH panel, and probably the ten pin is also, so I my bad. The 'switched' portion of the solenoid wiring can be accessed from there after-all.
