Hello. I'm a new member to the forum.

I need to replace the OEM Battle Wings on the S10. These have been okay tires for me but since I only ride on the road (and don’t see that changing anytime soon), I am looking for input on the next set of more road-oriented tires. My riding style is not real aggressive and is many commuting and as many longer road trips as I can. I am considering: 1) Tourance NEXT (~$315 for set), 2) Pilot Road 4 Trail (~$355 for set) and 3) Battlax T30 (~$220 for set). I’m really liking the Battlax T30 from a price point of view, but have not hear much about them for bike like the S10. Thoughts?

Id go with the Battlax at those prices. Pretty sure Im correct in saying that in the UK the Battlax are the more expensive ones. I usually use Metzeler. I have used Continental but wont use them again

I just got a set of Michelin Pilot Road Trail 4 tires. I have not mounted them yet, as it is seriously cold and snowy here, but will post when I can put a few miles on them. I just finished off a set of Anakee 3s and liked them when new, but not quite as much at the end. The rear squared off more than the Anakee 2s and then the steering response started to go away at deeper lean angles.

You could probably still get PR3s for cheaper than the PR4s. I have a set of PR3s and will be able to get 10K out of the rear (at about 9500 now). The front looks like it has another 5K in it. They were great tires. Tons of grip and fully confidence inspiring in the rain.

::026:: I bought a set of the PR3s a few months back but just mounted them recently. I've always had great results with PRs on other bikes and they're working out as expected on the Tenere as well. Definitely my choice for 100% road. Let us know what you think of the 4s if you go with them...

Have you seen this sticky - LINK It's the forum's list of all tires that fit the Super Tenere.

How many miles did you get from the OEM Battle Wings? That, along with your self described riding style above will do a lot to tell us how you ride. The Battlax T30 is pretty new. I don't think anyone has posted experience with them yet. Bridgestone moto tires are usually pretty consistent, but every front I've ever run has cupped over time, which is somewhat dependent on your riding style and how many miles you put on, as to how much of an annoyance that may be for you.

Just wondering why you won't use Continentals again. Did you run Trail Attacks and get a front end wobble at about 35 mph with them fitted?

On the OEM Battle Wings I think I will get ~9K miles on the front tires. Can't say about the rear as a nail forced me to replace the rear prematurely. I see the PR3 are popular and friends with FJRs also love this tire. PR3 are still running ~$310-325 as the new PR4 come in. I am not a hard rider, but do take longer trips through some twisty roads and sometimes through rain. I think I would like a bit more confident tire for the rain, although the Battle Wings have been okay.

A good road tire for the wet conditions you're likely to encounter would be the Michelin Anakee III. I got a solid 7,500 miles before the front tire began showing wear bars and the rear looked like it would make it to 10,000. These are a 90/10 tire but work surprisingly well in dry offroad and gravel roads. Some people complain that the tire sings at speed but I didn't notice any more noise than the BattleWing or Anakee II.

One good thing to remember, tires are consumable and if you don't like what you have they'll soon be gone!

I LOVE the 023GTs on my FJR, nice neutral handling [doesn't flop into turns] stick well in the wet and great mileage. With that, I wouldn't hesitate to run the T30's on the Tenere for a pure street tire.

YMMV, good luck!
