It's actually stopped raining and the sun's out. Amazing... Forecast is for rain to hold off until this afternoon so I'm planning to ride down Hwy 224 and then up NF-46 to check out the campgrounds up there. It's a nice ride along the Clackamas river. Short notice but join me if you can. I plan on leaving around 10:30.

My old stomping grounds. Keep going all the way to Detroit and have lunch or ice cream, (ok, cocoa). ;D

Then post pics.

It wasn't open all the way to Detroit last week, but I suspect the inches of rain we've had the last two days likely took care of that.

This is a really nice ride with campsites all over the place. I followed NF-46 as far as I could but at about 3500 ft. the temperature was down to about 40 degrees and it started snowing. The road was full of snow so I wasn't able to get through to Detroit Lake. Maybe later in the spring. This is such a nice bike, liking it more and more as it breaks in.

Brrrrrr

In a few months I'll show you the long way back from Detroit. 90% off pavement. A teaser from last summer....

Oooh, is that the road that goes by Olallie Lake? If so, I rode that (on my old XR650R) with a buddy last Summer too. That's a fun/evil "road".

Yep. Good eye Joel. It's 4220, starting at 46, heading east, then north all the way to Timothy Lake. I think of the west->east piece as the evil, heading north past all the lakes if fantastic.

A lucky guess, I assure you, but one of my absolute favorite places to ride. That area is gorgeous. We camped at the Peninsula campground at Olallie and had our pick of sites overlooking the lake in late Summer/early Fall. After that we hit the evil part (East/West) to Detroit and then came back and jumped back on 4220 past the lakes and then we did as you said, ran North on 4220 up to Timothy (fun and fast section of dirt). After that we cut across Hwy 26 and up to Badger lake. That's another fun/evil "road". It was pretty funny, after working to get down there and then seeing a Mercedes down on the beach thinking, "WTF, did they airlift that thing down here?".

Sorry to thread jack, so much great riding to be had right in our backyards.
