Hello all,

I'm wondering if there is any interest in getting together to ride some dirt roads around the Route 14 area above West Point? It's a scenic and relatively curvy paved road that connects all the dirt roads I've located. I've been playing around on these roads since I got the bike, but there are a few that I'd like to explore with other riders (in other words, I'd love to learn how to be a better rider in the dirt and I don't want to try to pick my bike up alone ???). The last time I went out, I found a patch of sand that I rode right through confidently before I knew it was sand. Finding more sand, I chickened out, turned around, and nervously picked my way up the 'road' that I had just ridden. Anyway, it was fun, and I want to try it again.

Great! I'm not sure at this point, but I'm usually pretty flexible. My wife and I are busy on Saturday and I was going to try to do a dirtbike training class on Sunday. It looks like you are coming from MD though! That's a hike!

Cooll! Just drop a line when you have things figured out with timing. There's a good bbq place over in Richmond (Alamo) so any excuse to go for a ride, explore new roads, and build up an appetite is fine with me. :) I'm toast this weekend, but ride all year so there are plenty of opportunities!

I am inexperience off road and would love to join a group anytime I can. I'm in Fredericksburg and have been through the West Point area many times on the scenic route to VaBeach.

Hey folks, I just re-checked this thread and I'm wondering if there's still interest in becoyote's idea of the GWNF in the spring? I'm about to get a skid plate and invest in some sort of tires that will encourage exploring. I love riding in the mountains and had fun poking around Panther falls area when I got the bike. There's some fun to be had up off of Rt 14 also. I ended up hooking up with some guys off the ADV board when I had the Tourance EXPs and got to visit the "mud road" and some of the other dirt areas above West Point. I'm pretty convinced after that experience that Tourance tires are not the way to go in the mud, but it was still fun.

I have a camp in Sugar Grove, WV.

It's a trailer but I have electric, septic, a fridge to keep beer cold and plenty of fire wood. In a days ride we could do 33, 250, ride some gravel in the Monongahela, hit Smoke Hole etc and be back in time to grill some steaks and have a beer around the fire.

Panther Falls, my neck of the woods - well, when I'm at camp (Forks of Buffalo area off Rte 60, Amherst County) I should chime in since I spend so much time up in the GWNF, mostly in the area around Amherst, Nelson, and Rockbridge Counties. I am planning on making the Romney gathering this spring - hopefully chasing some trout on the back roads.

Sounds like maybe a Spring day in the mountains is in order?

firedad415: did I meet you at the Yamaha demo days outside of Richmond?

Sorry... you did not. And... Sorry i am just seeing this.

I am the only Raven Tenere that I know of in the Richmond area with full Givi Trekker Bags though.

I've ridden some of the dirt roads out near 14 by mistake but I'd be down with going out that way again. One road ended abruptly with a bridge out.

Holler if you're up for some riding!
