Question:

I have a 2012 ST and the 1/2 of the rail on the OEM Right Side Pannier has detached. THe rest is still holding.

I was wondering if anybody has had this problem and Riveted the detached portion back onto the Pannier? And if so what type and size of rivets would/did you use. I had to place a strap around Pannier to keep it tight on the bike Rail so it wouldn't break off the rest of the way on a recent trip. I tried to glue it back on but was unsuccessful .

To be clear. The rack that is on the bike itself is fine. Just the Rail that is attached to the Pannier is about 1/2 detached.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Photos would be really helpful to understand.
He is talking about the approx. 3 inch plastic boss that is riveted to the mounting bracket to keep the bag in place.

To the OP: I would just find a stainless rivet that fits in that hole and is long enough to go through both the plastic boss and the metal bar. A semi-educated guess would be a 1/8 x 1/2" rivet.

Thank you. Since it is a steel bar ... I assume a steel rivet vs. an aluminum one?

A friend of mine said he could rivet it (i don't own a rivet gun and have never tried) but said to be sure to get the right type of rivet for the material to avid oxidation etc.

Thanks for the advice.
