Hey Guys, I picked up a new to me 2012 S10 last weekend with about 16k miles on it. After a couple of rides later, I noticed that shing-shing-shing sound coming from the rear as I put it in the garage. Took the caliper off and one of the pads was down to metal. Shame on me for not checking the day I got it. Pretty sure the rotor is trashed. Couple of questions, does this look like a stock rotor? Is says licensed by Glafer on the rear but no part numbers. Second, is there a place where you guys like to get your stock parts from? Some forums find a particular dealer that is good to deal with.

Pretty sure a rotor isn't supposed to spring up like belleville washer when you push on one side.

Thanks, I did see the Galfer on there. Sorry, forgot to update my location in my profile. I'm in the States.

Is it a safe bet that the Galfer branded rotor is worth the $40 more than the OEM Galfer licensed?

Yes, its stock and these OEM (rear) set up always wears fast on ALL the Tenere bikes...... Over all these years I tried probably 6-8 different brands, pads, "set-up" on other peoples bikes along with my own.... keep an eye on miles and what I feel and asking them lots of questions.... I installed it, and then took it back off when it wore out.... So Ive seen the "life span" many times.............................. With this being said, IMOP the factory disc and pad is probably the best feel and stopping power in all / most conditions. Im currently in a Galfer disc and matching pads and I dont think the feel is as good. Makes more noise, cost more and I might wear a little longer but not a huge difference. On the COBDR, there are many water crossings that obviously has sand and dirt that gets all over everywhere. The rear made more noise than a stock set up and the immediate 'brake power / feel" doesn't feel the same...... This might be a personal preference and I typically go to "better parts"..... In this case, I think next time I will be going back to stock rear brake parts.....

My Galfers wore below the service limit by about 20k miles. I replaced them with PFM disks and SBS pads. Vast improvement
