Question about Engine Braking

The strength of engine braking on the S10 has amazed me. It's far more pronounced that any of the old motorbikes I have ridden.
If it is solely due to shutting off the intake air then my hat is off to the intake valve stem seals and oil control rings.
Yes, pulling the clutch lever and disengaging the drive train does make a difference but realize the clutch switch has changed state also when the lever is pulled.
If the ABS fuse was removed would engine braking be affected at all? Has anyone tried that approach?
I have not tried that but do plan to perform the exercise experimentally once the salt and sand is off the roads locally.
I have also wondered if increased rear brake wear could be attributed to ABS feathered application during "hard"engine braking.
Being all wet is one of my pastimes so I may be. My S10 is a 2013.

No TB synch was done during the valve check. If I recall, I did the last one myself at around 18,000 miles. Nothing about the way the bike was running would have led me to think the throttle bodies weren't in synch, but I will go check it just to make sure.
Yes, but check & set the cables first, just to make sure - particularly the closing cable slack - before you set the meter up to check the sync. It is truely amazing how a tautness in the closing cable affects the feel at the twist grip. I have seen bikes where the outer cable ends have not seated correctly, or have jumped out of the adjusters - just make sure all is well at the twist grip, adjusters & back down at the business end too, along with a smooth positive action & no kinks or awkwards turns in the cable runs.
