Hi all, I'm thinking of buying an S10, read so many good things about them and love the look of the bike, it'll come down to an S10 and an Explorer 1200 but if I'm honest I'm concerned about the reliability of the Trumpet. Currently have an 06 plate Strom DL1000 that has done me proud after sorting the clutch basket, fork brace, power commander etc! Hope to get some info from you lot but I think I need just get on with it and buy one! One last point, why do other countries have all the best colours?!!

::004:: to the forum yoyo. go see Rob at Fowlers Bristol if you're in the market for new, he's a decent chap, but where ever you get one from, you'll like it.

Thanks for the heads up about Fowlers, they were doing a great deal on used last year with 36 months 0% finance but didn't have one at the time, they have one now but have stopped the offer! I'm still undecided whether to look at used model or go for the updated one. Time will tell!

Welcome -- thinking is over rated -- Just buy it you won't regret spending the money for such an awesome machine...Nice selection of colors and they all go with dirt tone.

I had a brand new Explorer when they were launched...two euro trips should have seen me happy with it...but I wasn't
Should have got a new S10 instead...now on a 14 plate S10 ES ::022::

Nothing compared to some of the USA guys on here but Ive done quite a few miles on mine and have collectively done well over 300,000 miles on various bikes now and although I miss some of my old bikes (especially the Blackbird and Fireblade)..i think the S10 is the first bike I've owned where Im pretty sure I will replace it with another one.
That says alot eh?
Buy one!!
Personally I think the Explorer looks much better but I still bought the S10 (cheaper used buy too thanks too all the non hype of the S10 in uk)

Some cracking deals out there at the moment, just check out Ebay & the Autotrader. As a former 06 V-Strom 1000 owner (and glee) I can safely say you would not be disappointed with an S10. It handles well, brakes well (enough) and is nice & comfy, oh and you can't seem to break them either.

2112 I remember you from vstrom.co.uk! I liked your last comment of not being able to break them! I've got a mate with an 11 plate that's offered to lend me his so will give a good run and decide from there but it's a no brainer!

Hi Yoyo, if you can get a spin out on a one that's great. Don't forget that the choice of screens and handle bar positions is almost endless, so if it's not quite 100% with a bit of effort it will be. As a V-Strom 1000 owner you'll no doubt know all about screens, it took me 4 goes to get the right one for my V-Strom... Actually, I notice the 1000's have firmed up in price a bit second hand so best of luck, you should get a decent price for it ::008::

I did not even test the Exploder as it was a brand new model when I bought my S10.

A mate bought one and in 5,000 miles they have only replaced the cylinder head, final drive, sidestand and ECU under warranty....

I think the bugs are now ironed out and it is a nice bike, smoother and faster than the S10 and works well on A-roads and flowing B-Roads, he S10 has more low down drive and is better on the slower back lanes and much better on rough surfaces / off-road.

An Arrow exhaust system and remap has really livened up the top end on mine to the point where I think it is now only very slightly behind the Exploder and pretty much matches the latest GS in speed stakes.

Hi Yoyo...

I'm a new S10 owner and also originally from Swansea...

I've got a Tiger 800 and a Scrambler and looked at the Explorer before buying the S10.... Too top heavy and reliability issues all over the place.. a riding buddy had the final drive casings replaced 3 times!! He's now back on an T800 (Great bike)

The build quality of the yam is superb...

Anyway hope to catch up soon..

Hi from Derbyshire, I did as some others had done on here,, took the TEX out for a test great engine but bit top heavy like myself and with various niggles ( again like me ) reported on Triumph formums went with a 2014/15 S10 , no regrets.
Could have gone down the GS road like a riding bud but after his 15 plate has been back to the dealer 4 x in 6mth feel I still made the right choice.
Enjoy
P-P
PS what's wrong with White as a colour everyone knows its the best and fastest......
