Around town I ride without the passenger pegs installed. Went for a rip out in country on a gravel road, looked down and noticed my fairly new AeroSTich Darien Lite pants had rubbed on the exhaust pipe and burned a hole through them on my left leg!! ::010:: Guess, I will be keeping the passenger pegs on which has the lower heat shield on it!!! Oh, there really was no fire, just a nice melted hole!!! Anyway, sending pants off for repair!!!

That sucks! Guess there was a reason for that heat shield to be there besides passenger comfort/safety. I'd love to remove that left side peg and mounting bracket, but not at the cost of losing the heat shield.

I personally feel that taking stuff off of this bike to"clean up the looks," especially in the pax peg and exaust area, doesn't accomplish that task. IMO, it l always looks as if something is missing or incomplete.

Been there, done that. I'm still riding with the pair I burned a hole in on my wife's old Suzuki S50. That one got me in trouble with my wife because I left burned pant debris on her chrome. She was quite annoyed with me. Almost as annoyed as I was with her for getting me to buy her a bike with chrome...yuk.
