PA guys - traveling around the north central mountains these past two weekends nad have noticed that ALL of the gates that are typically closed were open. I'd guess with all the dry weather it was for firefighting access? Don't know but sure fun.

Riding the 666 this past rainy saturday

Allegheny Forest, West of Kane.
I see it now. I've never been west of 219 in my life. I did a trip up to the Susquehannock State forest a year or two back and it was awesome. I imagine Allegheny is pretty close to that experience.

don't have to go west of 219, try the roads in the elk and moshannon state forests. pull off road camping and a couple of primiative campgrounds also free.

the roads in the quehanna wild area (what little there are) are fantastic for not seeing anyone else all day.

riding the ridges south of 120 (closest town renovo) this weekend.

If you're wandering around Sproul SF be warned that the bridge at Kato (north of Snowshoe) is blocked off by jersey barriers. However, You just have to go THROUGH the creek! :D

heading up to the sproul probably fri nite and saturday to ride the roads and powerlines in the quehanna natural area. Most likely all the roads east of wykoff as far as round island ridge road could meet up if any of the central PA guys are interested? even for the day of riding on saturday.

Glad to hear you had a dry run home and enjoyed the local tour. The poor GS, ten yards behind going into the corner,40 or 50 coming out :D. We'll have to check out the area between 144 and Kettle Creek north of Renovo when I can get out for an overnight. So many roads and trails, so little time!

Yes sir and the reason I was up in the Elk (and Sproul) State Forest the weekend of Thanksgiving. Centered travels out of primitive (and free) Hicks Run Campground. The big boy below was dining in the yard of the camps on Hicks Run Road about a mile off Route 555. Could have spit and hit this guy but he was way to busy eat to pay any attention to me.

It was cool but a beautiful weekend all the same.

I feel bad for all the tourists who go to the state Elk viewing areas and see nothing but we see them all the time in the Hicks and Medix roads area.
