Im at a little over 10k on the original battlewings. I wear them out before they come off. I would take the trip, 2k is almost a new tire in my book.
WOW 10k on battlewings! I took mine off around 6,500 they maybe had 1k left, and that would have been pushing it. I would have finished off the other 1k but was on a trip and had 2k left to get home and did not want to chance it.

I'm just about at 10,000 miles on my set of PR3s on the S10. The performed admirably on a trip to the mountains of Colorado. I was surprised at how they were able to resist the flat/straights going across the country to get to Colorado. They did not square off. The rear is now squaring a bit, but it isn't horrible. I will absolutely mount another set for our trip to Quebec this fall after I kill an interim set of TKCs.

I have 9000 miles on my original battlewings and they are ready to go. Bought k76s, will install them as soon as it gets over 40 degrees here in NY; will post a Review

I, personally, would not embark on a 4k mile trip with tires with 2k miles on them. My personal rule is to always start a major journey with fresh rubber. I can always put the 2k tires back on when the trip rubber wears out to finish them off.

I started my 4k miles colorado trip last summer with 3k already on my k60's! They handled the task no problem. The important things with tires is that you feel confident when you leave on a trip. One less thing to worry about.
