Well, no need for me to ride up to Austin now for the big unveiling... As that's what I figured they were going to announce, and there is already tons of info out on the 'net for the FZ-07/MT-07. :(

could not see that one coming ::)

$300 less than Canadian MSRP..https://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/details.php?model=4477&group=MC&catId=79

One grand less than the fz9...figured it would have been cheaper..

Yeah. Rumor was it was going to be $5,999 in the USA, and at that price it would have been an instant hit, but at $6990 I'm not so sure. Still, it undercuts Honda's NC700X by just over $800, over $700 less than Kawasaki's 650 Ninja, and over a whopping $1150 less than Suzuki's SFV650. Those are pretty heady price differences, so it should be able to cut out a pretty big slice of that market segment.

Is that just the MT-07 that has been out in Europe for a few months now with a different name

Over here FZ's have always been four cylinder - and the old 600's are well above the power of the new bike so to me the MT Twin is not really an FZ replacement any more than the NC700 is a replacement for a Hornet.

By UK standards these MT's are very good value, I can see them selling well to the younger crowd

Yes, just as the FZ-09 = Euro/UK MT-09.

I agree. But at 8999 msrp for the fz09, that is the deal of the century. Seems to me that the fz07 is a bit too close to price. Regardless, they will sell tons.

Could be a margin thing, in the UK the 900 is £6949 and the 700 £5199 but prices in the US are usually the same in $$ = which mean you guys are paying about 40% less.

I expect the build cost at the factory gate of the 900 triple is nowhere near the extra £2k they can charge for the bike so it probably has a good margin in it, the 700 most likely has a bit less margin to start with - and with the US getting them 40% cheaper than us in Euro-land they probably cannot keep the price that much lower.

It looks like the price difference in the US is only $1000 between 07 and 09. Who wouldn't spend $1000 more for the FZ-09?
