Hi everyone! Got a sweet 2013 with only 750 miles on it......nicely farkled......seems like brand new......it feels a bit like ::016::. Been following this forum.....you guys sold me on the ST. Test drove the r 1200gsw....interesting.

After analysis paralysis, The choice was between the ST or the GSW. The new dl 1000 just didn't feel as substantial and KTMs frighten me from a service point of view. I drove the GSW and thought it was brilliant from 2000 to 4500 rpm. Higher up it seemed very much like a sport bike...got a lot of vibes at higher rpms. I wanted an adventure bike....stable, predictable...and the tenere felt exactly that way. After scouring this sight for weeks the tenere was exactly as all of you STners have described. Me likey!!!

Thanks to all of you for the great info.

Ended up getting a 2013 white with givi trekker bags, alt rider skid plate and crash bars, Corbin drivers seat and only 750 miles. Still has new engine smell when it's warm :).

Questions.....when to switch to synthetic? Does reflash affect warranty and at what mileage would you recommend doing the reflash?

Lots of info here on the reflash and oil. I have not reflashed mine yet. It's on the list but just have not got there yet. Check out the 2014 Rally info since it will be in Arkansas this October.

Congratulations! Just wait it gets better. At 750 miles, she is not even close to broken in. She smooths out a lot as you add miles.

Welcome on, Fudman. Regarding oil, switch anytime the spirit and your pocketbook moves you. I put synthetic in on my first oil change, which is after only about 50 miles or so. Entirely your call. ::004:: to the forum. R. ::022::

First off - congrats on the new ride!

I switched to synthetic at 1200 miles, 20k on the odo now with no issues. And like Coastie said, just wait till you get some miles on her, she just gets better and better.

Also, wouldn't sweat the warranty on a reflash - engine is pretty much bulletproof, and if the dealer even knew you had a reflash (which is basically impossible unless you tell them) they would have to prove the reflash caused your warranty issue. I'm a service manager at a car dealer and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act pretty much covers the consumer unless you do something extreme...
