Hi everyone. I am a newbie to the forum although I have been lurking for a while. I am 64, retired, and have been riding for 48 years. I am down in southwest Colorado where there is some great riding. My first bike was a Yamaha twin jet 100. I have been a Yamaha fan forever. My current bike is a blue 2012 Super Tenere. It has most of the popular modifications like a tall windshield, heated seat, handlebar risers, and cruise control. I have about 32,000 miles on it now. I like the bike and just finished putting in a new cam chain tensioner. I do all my own wrenching, always have. I also ride my 1985 Yamaha RZ500 from time to time.
I joined the forum to help some other people who were having problems with their Tenere's. I had been experiencing no start, unstable idle, and high rpm (stuck throttle) conditions for over 1.5 years. The dealer could not solve the problems and ended up just putting a new throttle body on under warranty. That seemed to work, but it was only temporary. I now have solved the problem myself and wanted to share the solution. I noticed some threads concerning the problems others were having, but it seemed no one ever had a solution. I am not sure where in the forum to add my thoughts. Maybe someone could guide me. I am not super computer/forum savy, so bear with me.
