currently riding a FJR - have a GS in the garage, but looking longingly at the announcement of the super ten in the states. Long Distance rider with a penchant for taking dirt road short cuts and perhaps the long way 'round through the desert. Super T might be perfect. The GS belongs to my wife and is lowered too much for comfort, though I do love to ride that thing (at least till my knees start to hurt).

Hello from a fellow San Diegan. I have mine on order. Southbay gave me a great deal.

if you don't mind - contact me via email - chickey191 @ gmail.com
and let me know the details. I tried to go through them for my fjr when it was on the pre-order deal. then I found one on order at Motoworld of El Cajon (after dealing with Fun Bike Center (NEVER AGAIN)). I was new to the area at the time.
Heard great things about South Bay though. Guys in El Cajon have been pretty good but not all that crazy about their service. I contacted them via email last week and haven't heard back from them, yet - so they don't seem all that hungry.
Oh - also tried Alba - but they don't really sell bikes anymore. Too bad...they are down the street from me.

it is too bad we have to do a scan on which dealers even give a crap about us as buyers. i too have a dealer 3 miles down the street from me, and they wouldn't budge off of MSRP, but they have ok service.
I ended up going up over the mountains to the east 65 miles to a small ma-pa dealer who has owned it for 30 years. I talked right to the owner as he is the sales guy. He gave me a good price off of msrp and has a SUper Tenere on order for himself, as does his main mechanic. I feel real comfortable going to this guy for sure. I know he isn't out just to sell another hundred motorcycles with no regards to me as a rider.

Good Luck with your searches.

Jeff

speedstar, i was just down in sd this past aug for the first time. what a neat place. Wife and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast downtown where they made great apple pancakes or something like it. We had to wait hour to get inside.

SD is a great place. Lots to do and see and we have some great mountain roads too. I was out this weekend for some great riding. Let me know if you ever get down this way again, maybe with the S10 when we get them. 8)

San Diego sucks - and so does the weather. The roads are horrible and the place is unfit for human habitation plus it is an epicenter of Calfornication. I wouldn't suggest moving here to my worst enemy. ???
Now that I have the Chamber of Commerce taken care of...... :-X
Went riding Sunday to test out my new bluetooth helmet headset - and managed a couple hundred miles of tasty mountain roads while also listening to my Colts lose to the Eagles via the Satellite radio. Managed to minimize the chicken strips riding in the hills and never had to zip the jacket vents closed, though I did move away from the ventilated riding gear. All this on my FJR - while waiting the blessing from the wife for the down payment on the S10. If it wasn't for having to deal with the crazy a$$ drivers and the congested interstates to get to some of those tasty roads....it would be just about perfect.

Ok - so it costs a bundle to live here and I have only been here for 6 years - it is still close to a perfect place. The only problem is riding through the desert to get out of here and head to my second and third favorite places to ride which are Nevada and Utah. The S10 begs to be ridden in both of those states due to the availability of accessible dirt roads connected by some awesome scenery and twisty mountain roads and proximity to yet another ridable state, Colorado and Montana. ;D

There is a way!!! Didn' t I hear you saying your hands and wrists have been starting to go numb while riding and the thought of a more upright bike as the Super 10 may help this dilemma? Hmm sure sounds to me to be less money than going to a doctor or surgeon.

This is just an explanation of what I heard you say in the above post!!! Maybe my interpretations are a bit skewed!!!

Heck, when i mentioned (ok I asked) to the wife if i could get the bike instead of my VStrom, we were finishing up at the Ultra-Sound listening to my baby girl, when i turned and in a long face mentioned i wanted to sell the STROM. She knew immediately I wanted to get the S10. She said sure go ahead!!!

I feel for you. I too am 38 and my second girl is just 16months right now. It is a handfull being an old dad but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Congrats on the new house and hopefully you got the job too.

Chickey, did you get wife buy-in? Heard back from Ted on a good offer?

Couple of things:
1. no haven't heard back from South Bay - nor from El Cajon - and people wonder why bike sales are down
2. Congratulations on the new baby.
3. you guys claiming girls are the major blessing I have just one word for you......
BOYS
remember them? You were one of them once and you know what you had on your minds (assuming you were actually thinking with THAT head)
(I have 2 girls (21 and 19 so I know whereof I speak)

Here was what I did to my girls when they started bringing those dirty, lecherous, evil testosterone infested males of the species)....
first one was greeted by me sitting in the garage cleaning my shotgun.
second one - when taking my daughter out I brought him into the garage and pointed to my bike (at the time a BMW K1200LT)
I asked him if he thought he could ride or even sit on the bike without my permission.
of course he said, "no sir".
I then pointed out that the bike was the SECOND most important thing in the house and that my daughter was the first and should be treated with as least as much consideration.

of course - in the end....none of this made any difference as the girls were equally infested with nasty pheromones and female equivalents. Not to mention they just grew up on me!

No! say it won't happen.
I know and I dread when the time comes for me as well. All of the things I did when I was younger will come back to haunt me.
Time to start planning for the coming onslaught.

Sorry to hear you have no word back from Southbay. Maybe go in and sit down with them. Ted should be able to work something out with you. I dealt with Aaron.

Thanks Ckickey!! You could always order from the dealer here in Central WA where i ordered mine from. Dam nice people. I could then ride it to your place for you!!! HAHA!!! I too will be cleaning the shotgun often!!! Manners and respect and fearing drugs are high on my priority over her coming home with a piercing or pink hair!!! I want to be the house where all the kids look up to and are comfortable to even talk to us!!!
