Well, went down to Barber this past weekend. Great tiem and great track. My encounters:

Alabama Hardees:
Me: "how is the sausage gravy?"
Cashier: "Sir, I have been busy working all morning, I am not sure.."
Me: "Ok"

Alabama NAPA
Me on the phone: "Hello, I am at the Leeds store and it is closed, where are you located?"
Napa phone guy: "Pell City"
Me: "Is that far from the old Leeds store?"
Napa: "the Leeds store is closed."
Me: "I Know, i am sitting out in front of it, where is the closest Napa store?"
Napa guy: "Where are you at?"

and finally, alabama Walmart greeter:
Me in my very Pennsylvania yankee acsent: "where is the tire center?"
Walmart store greet: "right back where it used to be."

so anyways, had a good time...but i need to figure out how to actually ride a bike......

trying to keep up with a buddy in front of me and thinking to myself "i can blow right by him on the brakes in the next turn if i just stick with him through here"

well, needless to say, my tires didnt do the 'sticking' my brain wanted to do....so out slipped the front end.

buddy of mine is posting up the video from my camera. I will look for the link. Granted it is a track and you have to wear all your gear, but I also wear a hip/thigh girdle and a back and chest protector. think i came out a bit better if I didnt have those on. helmet was toast.

JonnyC,

Sorry to hear about the "off" at Barber - glad you're ok. Definitely wearing good protection can save you from more serious injury (have learned that one for myself ;) at VIR)

Dang! Serious bummer! Glad that you were wearing your gear. If you'd gotten hurt real bad, your S10 would be waiting on you by the time you recovered.

Glad you came out of that in good condition.

On the plus side, your camera takes a hell of a nice picture.

Been going there since they opened the place back in '03. Logged thousands of miles there since. Love the track!! It is getting rough though fro mthe cars running there especially the inday cars with all the down force.

what kind of lap times are you running there? I am good for mid to high 30's on a good day and new race rubber. ;D

BTW it is only a 4 hour drive one way for me, nearest track to me and it just happens to be the best.
