... is due to be here in March. ::018:: I finally had a chance to ride my dealer's demo yesterday and walked away very confident that I'm making the correct choice.
I did however, experience a problem that I'm sure has been much discussed, somewhere. I perused the forum but didn't find an exact answer so please
excuse me if I'm ::002::

The buffetting from over the top of the screen is very reminiscent of my '03 Strom when fitted with the 24" Cee Bailey screen. IOW, something's gotta change.
When I rode the Strom to AK, I was taping cardboard to the top of the screen in search of relief when we arrived in Dawson Creek and when on the Cassiar,
the screen was removed entirely. Something about waiting 10 minutes for my eyes to stop jiggling around at the end of the day just seemed annoying...

So, what have you guys done, if you've had similar experiences, to fix this issue? Madstad? Wasp bracket? Taller shield? Triangular shaped hole
cut in screen? Any/all information will be greatly appreciated and consumed!

Really happy to be "one of you" soon aboard a Raven Tenere'... ::015::

BTW, I'm 5'11" with a 32" inseam. I'm fairly sure the seat was in the high position as I noticed the ergos changed from my ride around the parking
lot last year.

Welcome, Merfman and congratulations! Not sure what your final solution will be for the buffeting, but there are plenty of aftermarket goodies to try. I'm only 5'8" with a 31" inseam, so the stock screen is OK with me.

Let me nanny you over to the member introductions section before one of the mod's get to you ;D

Sweet! You are going to love it! I picked mine up on December 30th and I can't stop riding it! As far as the buffeting goes, maybe you should slow down :D There is plenty of after marked out there that will solve your problem. I'm in the same vertically challenged boat as Tremor, so I don't have the buffeting problem. Here is a thread in case you missed it. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=2223.0

Buffeting was an issue for me at 6'1", 34" inseam, 215 lbs.

For me the fix came with the Yamaha touring windscreen in conjunction with the Touratech windshield adjustment bracket. No more problem.

What means "slow down" ? ::26::

Thanks for the link!

Phil, thanks for the input regarding the touring screen... exploring all options!

You're just a Touratech kinda guy 8) Did you get your Zega Pro the side cases yet? I think I might have finally settled on the Hepco Beckers..although the price of the Trax is pretty attractive.

You may want to check out the adjustable brackets and 20" replacement shield from Mastad Engineering.

I'm 6' 1" with a 34" inseam and the buffeting was intolerable with the stock screen. It was bad enough that I couldn't ride with my shield open at over 25 MPH. The Mastad stuff cured it for me.

You might want to see if the stock windshield was in the top position. I am also 5'11" 32" inseam and with the stock seat in the high position, along with the stock windshield in the high position, I had very, very little buffeting (and that is with a Arai XD3 w/visor) until 80+mph.

I'm 6'01" with a 34" inseam and got rid of the stock screen early on. I ran a CalSci tinted shorrty in the summer and found it perfect (for me). When the (sort of) cold weather arrived here, I went to the Madstad screen adjuster and a large CalSci screen. I find these great for what I need this time of year but know there are plenty of options out there. A few hours searching the forum will no doubt find you the right solution before March.

Another 6'1" 34" inseamer!
(only for some reason I think the others are LYING about their weight. And weight has nothing to do with wind buffeting, so why even mention it?) ::)

Anyways, yea, stock screen was terrible for my height. Went with CaliSci Large. Stunning change.

March is a long ways away. Lots of sleepless nights if you hang around here reading much.

Cheers!

LOL... sleepless nights? I rode an '03 Strom that didn't have a Madstad option... many many nights/days were spent searching for a solution. What
I'm reading here (and on the recommended thread) gives me hope!

I'm the same size you are, 5'11" with 32" inseam. I had a 2003 VStrom also. I got an MP Cycle Design screen for the Strom. Transferred it to the S10 (with some reshaping). Problems gone. Looks good too...

Well, I am 6'2" and 32-33 inseam. I have added the Cal-Sci xl screen, and removed two inches from the top. I am using the WASP adjustable bracket and then drilled holes in the screen to lower the screen to eliminate the large gap on the bottom of the screen and the main fairing. What i find interesting is the small amount of air flow that hits the windscreen at all. I notice this while raining and the beads of water just sit there with an occasional flutter. Does this really mean there is now water hitting the screen? I can't hardly believe this!!!

The Raven model I want doesn't arrive at my local dealer until then... ;) They're getting in a Blue one but my heart says "black".
I'm in no rush, not a lot of riding to be had in Colorado in Jan/Feb/March...

With any luck at all, I'm picking up my new Super Tenere this coming Friday. ::012:: I've pre-ordered the tall screen because I'm 6'4" with a 34" inseam. I'm seeing I may have to invest in the Madstad option sooner rather than later...

I have an '07 Wee-Strom which I finally put a tall CalSci screen on. Amazing difference! CalSci would be my recommendation to anyone who is seriously frustrated with what you have now, no matter what bike.
