Wife and I are on a getaway for our anniversary (33rd) and the route we took today is an ideal Tenere Trip. (can I trademark that term?) We took PA 120 north out of Lock Haven, up to Emporium. Then up to Bradford, home of Case knives, Zippo lighters, and origin of Holley Carburators. Really nice route, ideal for motorcycles, and complete with Elk herds along the way. No cell coverage, no traffic, good pavement, and curvy roads. What else could you ask for?
Really: saw a herd of about 20 elk feeding in a field, right beside the road. Where's the 338 when you need it: great 6x6 bull, under 100 yards. I could have had it with a 629. (44 mag S&W revolver for those non shooters out there.)
It was also a nice nostalgia tour: my father worked in a CCC camp with his father during the depression, so I finally was able to visit the area. Other attractions are the former Knzua viaduct, which is now an observation platform after the devastating tornado a number of years ago.
I intend to revisit the area with the Beast as soon as I can.

When I get back, I'll post the photos.

::026:: Rode PA120 at STAR in State College in 2001, great MC road. Passed by Bradford on the way home from Nova Scotia last August. Lots of fantastic options in the part of the country. Have a great trip!

Thanks, we are.

The new Kinzua Sky Walk is quite the view platform. It recently opened (September of this year) We went there this morning, 34 degrees and my guess is 25-35 mph winds out at the end. Great views, but not a great day (due to the wind) to fully enjoy. Became quite chilled even though we were mostly dressed for it. Crossing the old viaduct on a train must have been quite the adventure on windy days.

We're planning on a return next spring during more pleasant weather with the bikes.

I'm going to have to start taking longer weekends so I can go a little farther than I have. So many good spots to visit, so little time, and so little interest from friends. :(

I didn't even get up to Susquehannock this year. :'(

How about a multi-day YST Forum PA Rally next spring covering all the hot spots around PA? Like a loop out and around PA.

Always wanted to do something like that but, like Venture notes, little interest from any of my friends as well (plus not to many actually have bikes anymore either)

I'm game. Heck, I'm game just to have somebody else to ride down to WV for spklbuk's annual WV camping trip. I'm pretty flexible in general.
