Hello Chaps
I'm new on here and about to get my first Super Tenere . Apart form a few minor jobs it will need a new pair of tyres as its still fitted with the worn original 2013. I like the old Metzeler Tourance tyres on my 1150GS and was going to get a pair for the Tenere. Or do you know better? I promise I wont ask about what oil :)

Tourance are the only tyres I’ve used on the Super Tenere, for the 7 years and 49k miles I’ve had it. The base Tourance are absolutely fine, however I prefer the Next version. I don’t ride off rode, but they’re good in all road conditions, from mountain passes, to nadgery backroads, wet or dry.

My wheels are currently in the shop atm having a set fitted.

I'm using Tourance Next on my Gen2 - very happy with them.

Metzeler have now introduced a Tourance Next 2 tyre, with a change in the tread pattern.

I fitted original Tourances on mine after a year or so on ContiTrail Attack3s. I have to say they’re pretty much as good, grip well wet and dry. I doubt they’re going to last as long as the Contis, and there is more noise from them, but the cost saving makes both acceptable. I certainly rate them better than the OE Bridgestones mine came with. A mate is donating me a part worn rear which I may or may not use when my current one wears out, although I did buy a new pair of Contis from Blackcircles a few weeks back when they had a £20 off deal on. Paid £235 for them.

The only downside of the Tourance is that they’re single compound, so they square off more quickly than modern dual or multi compound tyres.

My Tenere wore out a set of Metzler Tourance in 6,000 miles, I won’t be buying anymore.
Here are some pictures of my current set of Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires with 10,400 miles after a trip to Prudehoe Bay Alaska. Right now I believe Dunlop TrailMax Mission is about the best all around tire choice for the Super Tenere.

Yes, the Tourance Next / Next 2 are dual compound - I was referring to the original Tourance, which are excellent tyres, but single compound (and have been since at least 1996 when they were fitted oem to my R1100GS!).

I have Tourance on my 13. Great road tire but I think they suck on anything but asphalt. I would go back to Mitas if I could find them.
