Hello Fellas,
Well, like the title says, I lost the key. I set it on the rail of the bed of my pick up and drove off. I only realized it a couple of hours later. Since buying the bike we’ve moved and I can’t find the spare key. I have the key code off the cylinder locks for the bags. It’s a four digit code. Does anyone know if this code can be used to cut a new ignition key?

First question that needs to be asked is what country are you in? Canada and the EU have chip keys. Each bike comes with two black and one red key.

If you are in the US, it's easier, no chip key. You should be able to go to the dealer with your title, or passenger registration and VIN and have them punch a key. I'm not running factory bags or I'd go check to see if the bag locks have the actual key code on them. I'm thinking, probably not.

Thanks,

I am in the US. I found the spare key and the code tag with the key code on in. My local dealer cannot do keys. They just refer to a local locksmith. But, I would like to have and actually al oem key that is punched or cut, not ground. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Huero

If you're looking for a key that is as close to original as possible, your dealer (or someplace like Bikebandit) can get you OEM key blanks. A decent locksmith can cut them for you (although I guess their cutter is a grinder). They may not be quite as precise as what you're looking for, but if they're cut right they will work as well as the originals.

That's what I do...I keep the originals at home and ride with copies.

Good luck!

What Spider said ^^^^^^^ I got some Yamaha OEM keys and had the local True Value store cut them for me. Work perfect!
