Yes! On my first set of motorcycle camping trips we took freeze dried stuff and then making haste to find a grocery store for better satisfaction. Later I started taking Madras Lentils and boil-rice packs which did the trick. The food packs mentioned in the website you listed kicked it up a notch, for sure! Good stuff!

Being retired Military, MRE's work just fine for me.... Never tried the freeze dried items you are talking about.

Agreed, MREs are quite serviceable and I always carry a field stripped spare; but as Stevo says the Tasty Bites appear to "have kicked it up a notch." Never hurts to try something new. ::001::

Anyone else have any first hand experience with Tasty Bites brand?

Food is very important when travelling long distances. Personally take with me only organic and GMO free freeze dried food, vacuum packed personally upon receipt, beef jerky from pasture raised cattle, non GMO organic granola like Two moms in a raw brand, organic baby food in glass jars, etc. Vacuum pack everything and it will last for a very long time. Some dry food comes sealed in mylar bags. Open it and vacuum seal it, leave no air. I am in NY, lots of stuff here from Europe, like freeze dried soups with vegetables and no fillers. Europeans tend to be more food conscious then here in America, but lots of people are getting food conscious here as well. Those military issued MREs are loaded with garbage like GMO corn, soy and other ingredients that nature does not have in its dictionary. Many brand that are widely available in camping store are also loaded with garbage, so read labels if you care. If you care about what you put in your bike and on your bike, you should care about what you put in your body at least to some degree. Every time you buy something, you are voting for that product to be made, one at a time. I also like to bring a small container of aluminum free baking soda, makes a great mouth gargle and can be used to alkalinize water; can also stop acid reflux if you had too many cheeseburgers or ribs - just dilute a pinch in glass of water and drink it little by little. Also some cayenne pepper, at least 90,000 heating units, reported to stop heart attack in 30 seconds and is excellent for cardiovascular system in general. Freeze dried super foods such as greens like chlorella, spirulina, wheat grass, kamut that can counter all the "super foods" from diners, coffee shops and burger joints ::008:: And if you smoke, even occasionally, smoke organic tobacco will ya, at least you will not be inhaling cyanide. ::001::
iherb.com has great prices, posts ingredients, expiration dates and great shipping policy. No affiliation with them. They are in California.

I raise cayenne peppers and though I'm not sure about heating unit contents, it doesn't take very many dried flakes to add a little heat to most any dish.

Duly noted about packing them. Thanks for the tip.

I bring a lot of exotic spices with me and make my own Indian foods, but I do have on hand packet meals for when I get to a location late. I hit the store and get stuff to add to it.
I bring dried green chili powder with me in a zip lock and make camp side green chili stew.

The wonders of dollar tree!
I picked one of these up, 7 day pill reminder cases they all screw together.
I put all my needed spices in them.
It does work but they are hard plastic and you need to slip them in something tight as they can unscrew themselves from vibration, going to try slipping small rubber bands over the lip to see it that will keep them tight.

One of the pluses of being a chef for 20+ years before I woke up and got a real paying job, I can make just about anything from nothing!! ::008::

Then again if you pull into any motel 6 off the interstate, all you have to say to the owner is " man I smell Curry that smells good what are you making"?, and most of the time they have turned me on to a plate!! ;D

Eat an Apple at least one every other day to keep things moving!

Thanks for the idea. I am looking forward to getting one for traveling spices and maybe a spare nut, bolt and washer. Wondering if the plastic (fumes) will affect the taste.

I use a similar product though it is sold for fishing lures and such. This goes with my KLR to carry extra nuts / bolts / washers, carburetor jets and needles, and this and that. Very handy item. Has never vibrated loose during the, guessing, 30,000 miles of travel.
