I underestimated the mileage I was going to get on my rear tire. I’m currently on the road, leaving Baker City OR, this morning (Sunday 09/10) headed to Missoula tonight, then to Jackpot NV tomorrow and finally to Carson City Tuesday night. Wondering if there are any forum members that might have a used rear tire I could buy or recommend a shop along those routes.

You could call Desert Valley Powersports in the Tri Cities to see if they have a tire on the shelf for you. Wherever you go, I would offer a cash bonus for getting you in and out quickly.

If you know where you're going to be in 5 days have Rocky mountain at ship it to the place or dealer. Most dealers can get a tire in inside of 5 days.

There is a Honda-Yamaha dealer located in Missoula Montana, they are open on Mondays, a friend bought a set of Goldwing tires there many years ago and the service was excellent .

Thanks for the advice and replies. Out motel in Missoula is right down the street from 5 Valley Honda/Yamaha. Going to call them in a few minutes. Unfortunately the other potential source, Big Sky Motorsports is closed today (Monday). The tire might make it back to Ventura, but I’d like to quit worrying about it.

Failing that I’ve got messages into a couple shops in Twin Falls.

I thought about having a tire shipped somewhere but couldn’t find anyone to guaranty next day arrival date or time. I’ll be home Wednesday where a new tire is sitting in my garage.

There are two BIG power sports shops one in Idaho Falls and one Rexburg.

If you get down to an emergency situation and have to ride on a slick tire, let the air down to 20lbs and ride slow. This will put the load on the outside of the tire and the center will last a lot longer. I had a friend that had the cord showing and had no choice but to ride 90 miles to a Honda dealer that had a tire. He let the air way down and the tire looked the same in the center after the 90 miles.

To cap off my tire saga, I ended up at Adventure Motorsports in Twin Falls with no tread left down the middle of the tire. They didn’t have the correct size only a 170/60 or 160/60. I was worried the 170 would not clear the brake stay arm so opted for the 160. It’s a little shorter than the OEM 150/70 size, so throws the speedometer 3 MPH off instead of 2 MPH.

Gotta give props to the shop, great folks, particularly Zach and Glen in the service department getting me right in and loaning me a couple tools.
