Just a heads up to the WNC, ETN, and NGA SuperTen Riders... I am about to move - by early Dec - back to Asheville, NC for 2.5 years of grad school.

I have had a blast riding up here in WV with SpklBk and DirtDad and I look forward to rides in the Pisgah and elsewhere with some new SuperTen friends. I'll have the SuperTen and the WR250R with me so there will be plenty of options.

I am not sure how much time this program is gonna give me to ride, but I plan to squeeze as much in as I can to better keep my sanity. If you find yourself in the Asheville area gimme a holler at trikepilot using gmail as the domain.

Asheville? You mean: "Motorcycle Heaven". Great place to ride. Perfect ST country. Enjoy.

When I last lived in Asheville, I only had the old KLR. I am now returning with the SuperTen and WR250R.

Asheville, indeed, has a great reputation for riding. However, my experience unfortunately tells me that I am leaving blow-your-mind, worldclass backcountry ADV riding literally right in my backyard here in WV to move to Asheville where good pavement and gravel roads abound but the offroad stuff is more limited and further away from town.

Yet, I will suffer through with the aid of the dozen-plus amazing microbreweries in town and the fact that I'll be consumed with grad school.

Hey Trike,

I'm originally from Asheville and am up there at least a couple times a month. Maybe we can do a little riding sometime on one of your off days. Good luck with the move/school...

Trikepilot,
I'm Brick and live in Morganton, NC about 65 miles from Asheville. I guess I'm a bit more of a street rider than a ds rider but over here we have some pretty darn nice forest roads to ride. Right now a few of them are not accessable due to a bad fire in the Lynnville Gorge. Obviously it gets a bit cold up in the mtns this time of the year and so we ride here in the foothills or in the northern Piedmont.
I also have a good friend who lives in Fletcher an Asheville supburb and rides ds a lot... he doesn't have a Super T but a tricked out KLR.

Perhaps we will get to ride... since I'm retired it depends on your schedule. Let me know.

Hey Brick

I'll be located basically in Fletcher - actually in Arden which is the next 'burb towards Asheville from Fletcher.

I know the forest roads well throughout the WNC area (including Linville Gorge) from my previous life in Asheville from 1998 through 2008. The problem is that they are almost all USFS roads and the USFS gates off all the interesting stuff with signs that prohibit motorized vehicles. I'll take the SuperTen just about anywhere until it gets really rough and then I bring out the WR.

The SuperTen is on injured reserve now till I am in Asheville and get new seals and oil in the front forks. This is THE priority when I get there in a few weeks. If we get some balmy weather in Dec on into early January (classes start around January 9), I'd love to come over to Morganton for some rides. By then the forest roads around Linville should be open.

I am much easier to get via email directly - I am trikepilot with gmail as the domain.
