I was chatting with them about the ride last time I was up there. I'm trying to convince my brother (who also just bought an ST) to go.

I stopped on the way to the Suppercross in Seattle and found out about it. I would need to spend two nights there in a motel but it would be fun and brutal ::26::

good luck to you if you decide to make the run. I'm sure it's harder than it sounds and it takes alot of determination. My longest day ride was 600 miles. No competition, just riding home.

A buddy(on a F-800GS) and I are planning one for June from Olympia Wa. to Missoula Mt and back in one day. Highway pegs and a throttle lock are on the list to get before then for sure...

I have always thought this would be a good one to do, including some curvy roads, and long stretches!!! maybe I am dreaming!!!!

I think to do the wooded areas in the daylight, it would be best to start up near Mt. Vernon, WA at 4am then head down south on I-5, turn left, cross Mt Rainier before crowds get there, then bust north before hot afternoon, then turn left again to come back east to finish by 10pm at Mt. Vernon. This way crossing the North Cascades HWy would be done in daylight!!!

Jeff,
The wife and I did that exact trip a few years back, but we took 3 days :p I was on the Harley Wide Glide and she was on her shadow 600. Middle of July, and not a drop of rain...

IRON BUTT RIDE 2012

Good luck to the people doing this ride. I just did my first endurance ride of 1270 miles from Western Massachusetts back to Florida. I was extremely impressed on how the ST performed. It is a smooth and comfortable machine. You guys will have no problem completing it.

An FYI, I'm only 5'7" and put the seat in the high position and It was very comfortable. I will put it in the high position on all future rides down the freeway. I also kept the speedo at 85mph indicated and the RPMS were a hair above 4k. The motorcycle really seemed to love that pace and kept its speed easily with a 185lbs rider and 150lbs of gear. I averaged 43 miles per gallon and stopped every 200 miles regardless if my fuel gauge was flashing or not (I did top off the tank a bit at every stop). The times I bumped the speedo up to 90 indicated my fuel milage dropped way off.
