Like a few other owners with the OEM topbox my lock mysteriously disappeared while riding one day.

To get the topbox off the bike I had to manipulate the lock backing plate. That worked however the 'flap' on the lower back of the topbox won't close properly. I'm not sure if the two are related but now I can't seem to install the new lock (following the diagrams in the topbox manual).

I've read on this forum that others have had similar problems installing the replacement lock and that the manual isn't correct but I can't find any specific instructions.

Could someone please either explain to me (slowly) what I need to do or direct me to a url where it is explained. Photos would be nice .... :)

Thanks.

Finally worked out how to install the new lock in the topbox .... ::012::

Backing plate is rotated until it 'clicks' in - will have turned 90 degrees to what is shown in Topbox manual. Lock mechanism then inserts also at 90 degrees to the right looking from outside the box - again different to the manual. Two screws treated with Loctite and tightened. Key should now work as normal with the whole mechanism rotating so that the key hole is vertical.

The pannier locks ARE installed as per the manual. That is, different to the topbox.
