The dealer called today and told me that the seal around the fuel pump was pinched at the factory and is leaking.............he is checking with Yamaha for replacement parts. No big deal since it is tooooooooooooo hot to ride right now. I haven't even seen the bike and it is already a problem. :(

That sucks. Good thing it's not a manufacturing defect, just an assembly issue. Hope you get on the road soon. :)

That sucks. I sure hope they can get the parts and get her ready to ride quick. I would be afraid that lack of parts supply could be a problem. Where are you located?

Near St Louis, Mo....................Glad the dealer is fixing/correcting the problem before I pick it up. I'll just keep riding my KLR650 until then.

Just be thankful your dealer found it. Most would not even look so you would have found it after taking possession of the bike.

I don't have any VIN info on the bike yet.
For a previous post....the dealer tried to straighten out the seal, but it still leaked. I don't think it was glowing though!!

Is the dealer sure that it was pinched? Radiation can lead to reduced life.

OK, not that funny.
Sure it is. I think it is very funny. O'rings can take a lot of radiation. But grease can't.....sort of in the business, although not what you'd guess at first.
O'rings frequently get rolled upon installation, and that's what usually gets them.

My parts manual shows the O-ring to be "5JW 24486 00" which also fits the YZF R6 2003. Maybe lots more models, that is the only one that popped up with a google search on that part number.

This info is from the Europe parts manual.

That is good to know and I was hoping for some fuel pump/gasket commonality.
