What would you check before you ride it?

My bike will be shipped to me so I don't get to do the touchy-feely thing at the dealership. They're setting it up, but I'm a DIY kind of guy, so need to double-check everything myself.

Here is my check it before you ride list so far. Your suggestions are welcome.

* All fluid levels
* Tire pressure
* Charge battery
* Set factory suspension adjustments (I suppose these are in the owners manual?)
* Set seat to tall position (34" inseam)
* Check fork alignment
* Cable routing around handlebars
* Torque exposed fastener (at least if they are not on the factory paint dot reference)
* Check spokes
* The fuel pump O-ring TSB is done, don't really want to take the tank off but will keep an eye out for leakage

Neil,

Your list looks good. The nominal factory suspension settings are in the owners manual and are a good thing to double check, as some have had each fork set differently.

It goes without saying to double check the operation of the brakes before riding, but you should especially check the front caliper fastening bolts, as they are mucked with when installing the front wheel. Same with the front fender screws. Same goes for the handlebar clamps and front fork pinch bolts. These are the major bits that get touched during a PDI & setup.

You can access and save a copy of the US Owners Manual straight from the Yamaha web site here: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/service/viewmanuals/viewmanuals.aspx?ls=sport

-) Screw holding ABS sensor in front wheel.
-) Screw at the end of each handlebar weight.

Both of these had an issue when I picked-up the bike. Nothing big and quickly taken care of.

And don’t forget the rubber thingy on the swing arm, mine was missing.
