Bummer of a day today. First I drop the Tiger on its side and scuff the pannier (center-stand snafu, involves water, soap, a slanted driveway, and not being in neutral, nuff said), then I get an email from a friend of mine that he's no longer in for our first trip of the season scheduled for this Friday.

It was just going to be him and I since nobody else could find the time, and we were going to take a nice easy jaunt to Penn State University and finally be those eerie old guys you'd see in a bar on a Friday night, but alas, he's out and his excuse is really lame...

I still have Friday off, so maybe I'll just go for a nice solo ride. Anybody care to join me? Rem? :D

Sorry to hear of your mishap Venture. Never a good thing. Can't help with the ridin' buddy thing ... not for a while ... when/if I ever get back to Texas. I'll invite you over for a blast round the hood. You could always join us for a run to the Hindu Kush in a couple of days but we're goin' in armour not on bikes ??? :))

I would be happy to join you except for that thing called work.

Enjoy your ride.

Sadly, I have the same problem. But if you're heading back on Saturday, I am planning a ride in that direction from here (the halfway point to State College)

If you do ride up this way, make it a point to ride up ( or down, but up is better) PA125 and eat at Harry's in Shamokin. Don't know how much stuff is on the roads since we had all of the rain (and rain and rain and rain, to go with the rain)

I need a day off with no rain.

I hear ya. This whole work thing is a real downer when it comes to my motorcycling. :)

Thanks for the tip on Harry's, I have that noted for when we do end up making the run up. We'll have to meet up at some point since you're "on the way" for a lot of my destinations.

No problem. Just PM me and we'll work something out....

My plan (ha ha, like plans work out) is to ride down Saturday to the dealer, and see if I can make arrangements for delivery of the S10 in March if it doesn't show up before November. I really would rather not have a new bike sitting at the dealer all winter without riding it, and making payments as well. That would be better than it shivering in the shed with the others, but not ideal. There's enough sniveling from the shed as it is, don't need to add another sniveler. I'd rather it be delivered to someone that could use it, and I'll take mine in the spring. This is the sort of conversation I want to have in person, not over the phone or by e-mail. However, I may be in that area tomorrow for a job, so we'll see.
If that's the case, the WR and I may do a survey of how our riding areas fared this winter. The others need out as well, I may run PA125 Saturday on the road bike, or 339...or both!

Where do you expect to be midday tomorrow?
I'll just be around home since I didn't head out to PSU as planned, obviously. I still took the day off today, ran some errands, and spent about 2 hours on the bike. One of my pit stops was Martin's to get an oil filter. I was sorta hoping they'd magically have an S10 there, but alas, no dice. I did check out the dirt bikes, and I may go smaller than I anticipated at first, not sure yet. I got to see the new Tiger 800 XC in person as well, not a bad looking ride.

All in all it was a good day I guess, all things considered.

The wife is nagging me about getting mulch for the flower beds, so that will probably screw tomorrow away.

Use my method: I have her do the mulch! Actually, Yamagal59 told me NOT to work this weekend, but go have some fun. ( she's off at a retreat) she's the one that told me to put the S10 on order when I remarked I'd be interested in one. Top that!

I recommend replacing the mulch with river rock. We are in the process of doing that, my test bed proved it weed and need free after two years.

I'm probably going to ride the FZ down to Martins and stop an see my daughter in Kutztown and mother in Boyertown. Make a day of it, and come back home on 125. Nice ride. Tired of being cooped up in house or going to work.

A few more of my alledged fun and games years and me too! I figure I can last six more, that will give me twenty in current position. I'm into even numbers. I never realized I was until I thought about my '04 FZ, '08 WRR. Then the '12 S10. That probably explains some of my other problems as well! ::)

By the way, I busted a$$ all day around the yard, because it wasn't raining. I should have goofed off, but that's not who and what I am. I find it amazing how many people die shortly after retirement, as they stop doing everything. I find my regular job gets in the way of all of my other work.

Sad, but true!! At retirement we need to start living and not start dying! :)

Wow, Now I'm a "full member" How did that happen? Do I get a star or a pony? On an S10?

I think that's set to kick in at 100 posts. I can set those to any numbers and say anything I want. I've thought about making them something more interesting, like maybe at 1000 posts you become a "Super Tenere." Maybe at 500 you're an XT750Z, something like that.
