How about a photo and video section?

Just a thought as more people are now joining the forum is it worth having a section for people to post up pictures and videos, maybe a generic bike related media section.

I have a Gallery set up (select "Gallery" from the list near the top of each page) which will let all users upload pictures. They can be linked from the gallery to topics as well. I will write up some instructions to help folks out and post them.

As far as video goes, there are some things I can do to make videos embeddable into posts as well as in the gallery. I'll add them to my to-do list.

I definitely appreciate the feedback, keep it coming.

Go ya, just checked it out, is there a max size for file uploads? Just tried to upload to My Pictures with a 800kb file and got "an error has occured" tried it twice.

Was just testing it out really, any ideas?

Max file size should be something around 5MB. Let me take a closer look.

Strange I just added 3 pics to the main gallery and they uploaded fine, although one of them I had to try twice...

I see that. No errors were logged by the server so I have no idea what the issue was. I'll have to try uploading a few to see if I can duplicate what you're seeing. Usually once I figure out where the problem is I can fix it.

How big are the pictures you're trying to upload?

I just uploaded a picture with no issues, it's there now. ?? Picture of a Orange Triple R, you should be able to see it.

That is probably the problem. I never officially figured out the limit but there is one, and it's due to the amount of memory that is allocated to the site. Sorry. I think 5 megapixel and under you're ok, but much over that and you hit the wall.

Hopefully at some point I'll be able to get us onto a better platform, but for right now I'm paying all the bills so it is what it is.

I changed a few settings just now to make sure we don't hit any space constraints, but the memory issue is not one I can remedy easily.

Unfortunately I knew about the file size issue, since I hit it myself at one point when we were on a different host (didn't know we upgraded once already, did yas? ) The new host has a higher memory limit, so for pictures about 5 megapixel and smaller there should be no problem, but above that it's a gamble.

Mortiis I appreciate your donation suggestion, I think in time it'll make sense to go there as we grow. For now we're still fairing pretty well on the host we are on with small hiccups like this one with the media. I'll let everybody know when the time comes.
