This is my first post on this site so I' hope i'm in the right spot and following the rules. I currently own a V-Strom 1000 and am thinking of upgrading. I'm probably going to be doing more highway and less trail riding. Long trips will be about 800 mi on interstate and would like to do them in one day. I test rode some sport touring bikes and just don't think I can sit on them that long and the big bikes are just too big for me. I rode an S10 today, thought it was pretty comfortable and the handling was very similar to the V-Strom. Overall I liked it and think it might be better suited to my needs.

My question is: What are the top 4 or 5 mods needed to make the S-10 most comfortable for highway use?

Replaced my FJR with s10 for this purpose. Love the 6th gear, touring mode switch for smoothness and stretched seating position. Bike is very comfy for me at 6'1'. I added go cruise cruise control, WASP's adjustable windshield bracket, Parabellum windshield, carabou luggage. I am very happy with my bike, Good luck!

The super t is a great street bike. I'm 6'2" and 190 lbs.
1) seat mod to lower rear or replace seat. I am running a Russell and really like it
2) improve the windshield. The calisci XL is awesome for me in the winter zero turbulence. I'm still working on my warm weather setup.

Everything else works great out of the box for street riding.

Welcome to the Forum! What part of No Colorado are you in? I'm guessing someplace nearby and your test ride was at Fort Collins Motorsports. If so, they know me.

Many of us here came either directly or indirectly from a V-Strom. Great bikes, but the SuperT offers so much more.

My longest day was last Sunday for 885 miles. The #1 thing for me was getting a decent saddle. Some sort of throttle lock or such is near the top of the list too. Road pegs would be nice as well. The stock screen needs help. Either an adjustable mount or an aftermarket screen. I went with the adjustable (Wasp) mount.

Good luck!!!

Welcome aboard knobbylon :)

800 mile days? The Tenere is very comfortable out of the box.

I've done a 1600 mile day followed by 1600 miles in 27 hours the next day, plus a handful of 1000+ mile days. Very comfortable for long days ::008::

My Top 4 -5 mods?
1) A cruise control of some discription - I just use a Kaoko throttle lock. There are others, plus electronic gizmos.
2) Seat - pretty good already, actually very good already, but improved by an Airhawk.
3) Lights - 800 miles means running a fair amount in the dark usually - bolt on some high powered LEDs or HIDs or both ::025::
4) Screen - many here suggest a huge screen of some description, or an adjustable screen. I'm happy with mine chopped off.
5) Extra Fuel - scratch that -800 mile highway days are just fine with the stock tank.

Thanks guys: All that you have mentioned is what I was expecting from the short ride I took. That's very helpful and I can get a budget together from that.

Colo Rider: You're right. I'm in Windsor and test rode in FC.

All: I'm having a hard time finding highway peg solutions on the internet. Are most of them just added on to crash bars?

Glad to hear you are nearby. I usually deal with Ryan (the manager) at FC Motorsports. Tell him "Hi" for me when you go in again.

Randy (ST-Venture) found a solution for mounting road pegs to the Givi bars. I'll try to find the post....
