Hey everybody,

Just saying hello from Tarentum, PA. I'm nearly 53yrs old (next month) and a rider of 18 yrs. I rode mostly UJM's and sportbikes. Right now I'm on a Goldwing and enjoying it very much. Always wanted to try a bagger ever since I saw a co-worker commuting on one a long while back.

I've been wanting to add a 2nd bike to the stable and have a short list of ones that might be real fun. Have recently opened my eyes to the possibility of an adventure bike. I live out in the country and some of the roads aren't so good. But might be ideal for something like an adventure bike. So now I'm here hoping to learn more. And have to say that the super tenere seems like a great value when compared to the other adventure bikes.

I noitced that there was just a huge discount on 13's and some still around. Does Yamaha do that often? I'm giving serious thoughts to maybe trying a '14-16 model with ES and wondering when might be the best time to buy. Thanks and looking forward to reading and getting to know the community!

Wife and I bought a pair of 2013's from Hillview Motorsports in Latrobe just before Christmas. If I recall correctly, they bought 25 or 30 of the 2013's last year when Yamaha put them up for a very low price No idea if they have any more from that batch or maybe some 14's or 15's, but it's worth a call. Good luck with your search.

Welcome aboard.
The best time to buy is when you can afford to pay for what really excites you.
If you wait 10 years, this years' bikes WILL be cheaper.
;)
Sorry, couldn't resist the obvious.

Yes there are some smoking deals on Gen1 bikes, but there are now also some great prices on leftover 2014s. Do a search on CycleTrader.com

Greetings from (East) Pittsburgh!

Happy shopping, I'v never been to Hillview as suggested by Kurgan but I had a friend buy a V Star 1300 there, raves about the service and the fact that a test ride was no problem. I did visit Miller's in Lemont Furnace (Uniontown) on a number of occasions but according to their website they no longer have any Gen 1s (but do call, the web site is not always up to date). Unlimited Cycle Center all the way out in Tyrone (a little past Altoona) still has a white '13 advertised (which according to at least one forum member is the fastest one) if it is the one I saw late last year it has a few farkles added, Givi cases and extra lights (I forgot the brand), they would not allow a test ride though. I would skip Bentleys, nothing personal but I've never liked the service there.....

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride.

Romney Cycles sponsors the camp-n-ride at the end of the month, has some of the best prices on the east coast, and will send a driver to pick people up at Dulles or Cumberland Md for anybody interested in doing a fly-n-ride.

Thanks Kurgan! Was checking there website and facebook pages. Smart move by them to grab up those 2013's at that low price. I've been to Hillview a couple times now and demo rode some bikes there last year. Seemed like nice people. Was hoping they would have another demo ride event this year so I could try a Super Tenere and maybe even a WR250R. I've never even sat on one yet.

Thanks draig! Millers and Hillview both look promising. There are 2 smaller Yamaha dealers closer to me but they seem to be more into selling/servicing quads & dirt bikes than selling streetbikes. Bentleys might be closer to me but just from there advertising it doesn't seem like they big on making deals.

Thanks Checkswrecks and everybody for there welcomes! :)

Also for the info on the camp n ride. I saw it listed on the Yamaha site but had no idea what it was. Sounds pretty cool and have heard about Romney. :)
