I purchased these in April of 14. Manufacture date is about Oct 13 based on mark on sidewall with 4013. Is this dry rot or some other type of wear? I rode these about 6 K miles. Mostly road with about 10% off road.

That is tearing of the tread. Typically found with sustained running. This can be caused where the heating of the tire occurs in one area and as it transitions to another the tread cold tears. I am not doing a good job explaining it but at the end of the day, it is nothing to worry about and by the looks of the tread remaining along the center area, they are just about done any way.

This can also be caused by drying of the resins in old tires or where they are stored near ozone producing sources.

+1 to most of what Phil wrote.
Can also be running a cold tire through curves so the contact tears before softening, or wearing the tread until developing shoulders and then riding hard in the twisties.

iirc - There are previous posts about cracks in Heidenaus and I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the replies. I acually keep my bike outdoors but always covered. My bike mechanic tells me that he thinks it because Heidenaus tend to have harder rubber. I just replaced these tire today with Anakee 3s. I went through a set of K60s and liked them.
