So far, more negatives than positives on this bike. :(

Not worth the wait, and certainly not worth the money.

A 1200GS it is not.
Sorry you don't like your bike after such a long wait. I guess some people are more sensitive than others to heat. Most of the miles I put on mine have been at 100 to 110 degrees including riding it the 175 miles home from the dealer. I do notice a lot more heat from the left side but it is not objectionable to me.

We all knew the bike had a single radiator on the left side when we ordered the bikes, to think that it wouldn't be warmer on the left side we would be fooling ourselves.

You are right is it not 1200GS. The initial cost is thousands less, and based on previous Yamaha's I have owned the life time cost of ownership should also be much less costly than on a GS.

Its a new bike I would give it a little more time before writing it off as a bad bike.

I have considerable heat coming off the left side. Today was about 85-90 degrees with low humidity.

Just got the bike and went out to do 100 miles or so. Came home early due to the heat issue.

Increased speed/ air flow just seems to make the problem worse.

Since one of the reasons I bought this bike was to get away from the heat issues on a Kaw Concours,
I'm not a happy camper.

Dude, I'm sorry you do not like the bike, really... But it is what it is, and maybe you should just trade it on a 1200GS.
That would give you the bike you wanted and I would not have to listen to your whine.. ::)

What are the other issues besides the slight additional heat coming from the left side that you are experiencing?

What are you wearing for riding gear? I rode 400 miles in 95 degree heat Sun and felt no heat, none, all I was wearing was Sliders Jeans.
You might try a little heavier gear before you write the bike off.

I am sure there will be an easy fix for that. I was thinking of adding 2" a/c foam strip between tank and fairing, but I only noticed the heat one day out of 5, so I am holding off. I love my bike, it is everything I was hoping it would be. Perfect replacement for my fjr with adventure capabilities.

p.s. It won't endo, linked brakes just suck the rear end down to the ground.

Jeez, keep your knees against the tank and move at appropriate speed, so the hot air will evade your knee. I did a couple of hundreds of miles in Southern Spain in July at up to 40°C / 104 F, no problems whatsoever. Anyway the GS will boil both of your shins with radiating heat from the cylinders, there's no escaping that.

But the boxer boys call that a plus, and talk about how nice it is in winter. Wait till winter Bob, you'll be loving it. :D

Cheers

Thank god for that! ;D

No exploding final drives, servo brakes that don't work, dry clutch/driveshaft spline failures, BMW elitist snobbery......etc...etc....etc...

I did a BBgold and a SS2K on mine last weekend and found the heat if I stuck My hand out looking for it.
You should ride a KLR in 105 degree heat some time that is a leg burner WITH gear on.

Man it`s almost 120 heat index here and i didnt realize we had a heat problem on the Tenere.I havent noticed it at all, maybe rider position has a lot to do with it .You want hot,sit on a Harley dresser in heavy traffic.I own both and can tell you the Tenere is not hot compared to a lot of other bikes.

Coming from a Strom I definitely notice the heat. It's a very interesting phenomenon. Put your hand near the tank by your left knee and cool air is coming through that area, well at least as cool as the outside air. Put your hand in the outside slip stream of the plastic shroud and there's no doubt, it's pretty warm. I'm finding if I keep my leg up against the tank it's all pretty tolerable. Just one of the adjustments I need to make as I learn this bike.

For me the positives of this bike significantly out weight the heating issue. I'll learn to ignore it. This is a great bike so far. For me it has been worth of the wait. No regrets at all.

It's interesting that the heat issue has barely rated a mention (let alone a complaint) from all the non-US owners over the past year. I wonder if it's just that the bikes hit here in the middle of a heatwave, or that there is something different with our bikes? Or are Americans whiney pussies? :D

For me, it's noticeable but will only be annoying on the hottest of days. Also have to change my habit of resting my hand on mt left knee at times. With perforated gloves my hand gets uncomfortably warm.

The fan comes on 3 or 4 times on my commute, almost never happened on the Strom. Still, not complaining, just part of the different character of this bike.

Just add the Yamaha accessory weenie roaster and turn that frown upside down! An OEM pannier full of beer and ice and you have an instant tailgate party!

I think you'll be the envy off all riders when winter approaches. 8)

A new tight motor in the middle of a heatwave doesn't help.

Be careful though if you keep this up you'll end up with an adventure Goldwing.

That used to be a small bike when it started out!!

Rode 380 miles in up to 110 degree heat and never noticed heat from the left whether the fan was on or off and it was on quite a bit. YMMV
