Hear that buzzing when braking hard?

Never noticed this on the original Tenere, but today I heard a buzzing when braking hard from speed. Sounds something like an electric razor buzzing. Only noticeable when stopping rapidly from faster speeds (55 mph). Not so rapidly that the ABS needs to kick in, but aggressive braking. The buzzing diminishes with speed. I was concerned enough that I got on my former S10 and tried to reproduce. Definitely did hear it on that bike too. Not as loud, but the noise is there. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this noise?

Yes, but I never worried about it. I just assumed it was a normal noise from the braking system.

Can't say that I have. Can you determine where the noise is coming from? Does it do it if just using the front brake only, rear only or both?

Not sure where it's coming from or the braking action that causes it. Only heard it for the first time today.

If you look at the brake rotors the floaters have wave springs behind them, the way I understand these is that
this allows the brake rotor to flex and move under heat stress(and make the buzzing sound)
some riders will never brake hard enough to ever hear it. Congrats! ::012::

Mine has made that noise since day one no matter how hard or soft I brake.
It's not gotten any worse but I figured I'd mention it to the dealer when I take mine in for the o-ring recall.

I've always thought it was the cross drilling. I've heard on other bikes with out the floating rotors.

Petal rotors, holes, floating rotors = "noise" such as you describe. Completely normal.

I'd characterize the normal sound disc brakes make as "buzzing" and drilled rotors tend to make it more than non-drilled. I normally wear earplugs and never hear it, but recently I took a ride around the neighborhood without helmet and without ear plugs and the brakes do make a pronounced buzzing noise which rises in intensity with braking effort. If this is the noise you're hearing, it is completely normal.

I assumed since it was on both bikes it must be normal. Good to know what it is. I need to learn more about this floating brake thing. I'm completely ignorant about it.

might actually be the unified brake pump motor which applies the rear brake... just a thought ::017::
This is what I assumed it was.

Ever since I had to panic brake from 55mph and nothing locked up, but almost put me over the handle bars, I'm completely confidant in the brakes on this motorcycle.
