Hi guys. Just a quick question. Does anyone know if the side panniers from a 660 tenere will fit a xt1200z (13) is the fitting kit the same? Will it look uneven? If anyone has this set up a pic would be really helpful. Many thanks

My Tenere came with Yamaha bags, the first week one of the locks fell out and I had to buy a new lock for near $40, after it happened I found out this is a very common issue with the Yamaha bags, then the new key didn't match the other locks so had to take the new lock to a locksmith so he could make it match the other locks. The Yamaha bags are very annoying, the locks are very difficult to use and you need to use a key every time you open or close them, the doors don't stay open by themselves and that gets pretty annoying when your trying to load or unload them, as you have probably guessed if I had a choice I would never buy Yamaha bags again.

Have heard this story too many times.
... the instructions for the locks states to use Blue Loctite for the installation of the screws. If you/dealer/previous owner use the Blue Loctite there is NO problem with the locks.
... opening and closing the lids can be a problem if the instructions are not followed. Press DOWN on the lid before turning the lock in either direction. Good to go.
... the lids can feel like they don't lean open enough. The straps will stretch in time or the strap can be easily re-positioned.

I have had two sets and experienced all of the problems and realized it was me that did not read the instructions. Of course there was no problems with the second set. Over 60,000 miles on both sets and they work fine. Are they the best side cases... probably not but they fit tight and securely haul anything I put in them.

660 Side Cases: do you have any information on these side cases?

When any of the cases are open you should see a rubber type cap installed over the lock, pull the cap off and you should see the two small torx head type security screws that hold the locks in place, you need a special security driver to check the tightness of the screws, I bought the bit from ace hardware for less than $2 , there might be a security screwdriver in the factory tool kit I never checked ? if any of your screws are loose I suggest removing them all any applying blue Locktight , there have been reports of these screws falling out even with blue Locktight , I plan to keep checking mine and if they come loose again I'm going to switch to red Locktight .

Curious how would you go about easily repositioning the straps ? aren't they just a Phillips head screw screwed into plastic ?
Bought my Tenere used and supposedly everything on it was installed by the dealer for the previous owner, is there somewhere I could see the install instructions you mentioned ?

Genuine Yamaha panniers

I only have trouble keeping the lids open when it's cold out. The plastic straps get stiff and don't want to extend. They seem to work fine in warmer weather. Been thinking about replacing them with some nylon woven straps.
