Just how is water kept out of the fuel tank cap?
It looks like water could run right down through the lock cylinder and into the tank, no?
Anyone ever take the fuel tank cap completely apart?
All the best.

I have ridden in a lot of rain and never experienced any water in gasoline issues.
Lots of folks report rusty spark plugs from riding Tenere in rain but I’ve never experienced that either.

There's a water drain in the bottom of the cover housing with sort of a sump. The initial bypass (entrance hole topmost in photo) is inside the tank which connects to one of the hoses on the underside of the tank, follows around the front of the engine on the left side and drains near the oil filter. The other hose is for gasoline pressurization burps/vapours? (entrance hole directly left of the main filler hole). Of the 6 holes in the filler hosing, only 4 actually hold it into the tank, 2 hold the housing itself together.

Never known to be a problem.

Just make sure the filler overflow drain tube is clear occasionally; they can get blocked or pinched.

Use a little graphite lock lube if the key gets stiff - resist using WD40, other than in an emergency, as it attracts dirt.
