Front Brake No Longer Linked to Rear Brake

A couple of days ago, I tested the brakes by rotating the rear wheel and applying the front brake. The wheel continued to turn. I applied the rear brake and the wheel stopped. I did this several times. It seems to m that the braking system is no long linked. There is no sign whatsoever to say something is wrong with the braking system. The rear and front brakes still work independently. The ABS also works well. What is the problem?

Mine does the same. Could it be that the UBS only works when the wheel sensors pick up motion, ie; turning and engine on with ABS pump active. It must have some thing to do with that, and unless you can get it on a rolling road, there is no real way of testing it......... Others may have a better explanation.

The UBS distributes breaking force to the front and rear wheels depending on various factors like weight, speed and breaking force, that is, the distribution between front and rear is not constant. For the UBS to function, the electronics need to pick up these variables and compute the distribution accordingly. In fact, pressing the foot break (rear) before the hand break (front) will disable this distribution completely.

Go for a ride and apply front only and see how hot the rear gets.

According to the owners manual ubs is not active until the bike is in motion.

Most likely it is working fine, it, like abs is monitored by the ecu and will revert to conventional function if a problem is detected and abs light will be lite up in the dash. 8)

Look it runs fine and the ABS light has never come on. I still brake normally and would not have noticed if I had not done as I said above. But it makes sense, as someone has suggested, to ride and see if the rear disc warms up. In fact I just rushed out to see if the disc is still warm having just returned home from a short ride. It turns out that the disc is warm, which means that the front brake is still linked to the rear brake. I did not use the rear brake. I will do a through test and report back.

Thanks folks.
