Temps ranged between 29 degrees and 39 degrees during the day today, but that was good enough for Dirt Mom and me to take our longest rides on our respective S10s. That seems odd to say since it was just 230 miles, but I'm still breaking in my 9 day old Raven, and this was only DM's second ride on her S10.

Still short shifting due to break-in and the gravel conspired to keep things relatively slow, but good to get out and ride away for home for a while. And we had a little dog decide to run along with us for a while.

I know you've probably said somewhere before... what's Dirt Mom's riding experience like?

No, I don't think I've ever said it here. I taught her to ride within in the first 18 months of getting married. That was back in 1987. She started off on a Yam XT350. Over the years she has ridden dirt bikes (TTR125), ATVs and dual sports including, XT225, Super Shepa and the DL650. She has gained a lot of skills over the years and can keep up better than the majority of the guys I've ridden with.

In the past if I could fault her for anything it was lack of fear. If she saw me do it, then she would do it, too. That often scared me, but she did it. Last year she had a major crash. http://www.stromtrooper.com/general-v-strom-discussion/64253-totaled-wee-today-bruised-but-not-broken.html Strange thing was, she was not pushing it at all. The road was just very slippery at a bad point. That crash changed the way both of us ride. I'm much more respectful of wet roads, she's just getting on two wheels for the first time since the crash and is processing through her lessons. She taking it easy and I'm encouraging her to take her time. Most of all she has a good attitude and I'm a lucky guy.
