Anyone have any advice on filling the final drive. Already dumped half my oil all over the outside of the bike. Will this stuff eat the paint on the swingarm?
It should not harm the paint, but I would remove and clean up the mess.

Go to Walmart and buy a pump made for boat engine lower units. They are also sold in other areas.
Use that and pump in what you need. I always over fill a little and let it drain out. When it quits draining, put the plug in and,,, ::26::

Using a ratio rite, I measured out .21 liter and put it in a dedicated squeeze bottle. I marked the squeeze bottle at the .21 liter mark and will use this each time I refill. The manual calls for .20 liter on refill. I made my mark at .21 thinking any residue left in the bottle and spill out will account fo the extra .01 liter.

It works great and makes no mess.

There is another thread about the final drive and it covers changing gear oil, types of gear oil, brands of gear oil, torque specs, etc.

Here is a quick note.
- drain the gear oil on the side stand (lower bolt OUT).
- fill the gear oil on the center stand (lower bolt IN).
- fill the gear oil until it drains out the upper fill hole.

Lower bolt: 17mm socket
Upper bolt: 5mm hex

Another option is a plastic syringe. The environmental consulting company I work for uses 60 ml plastic syringes for water sampling. It works really well for stuff like that. Draw up the amount you need and squirt it right in. Schools may also have them for various projects. Or the local vet. R

Rem, I didn't even think of that and we have a metric $#!7 ton (technical term) laying around for my kids medicine. (Just need to make sure he doesn't get a hold of it after I use it)

I clamped some fuel hose I had laying around on a small funnel and use that. It doesn’t flow very fast, but there isn’t much to put in there in the first place. :)

I had a plastic bottle of Honda final drive fluid from previously owning a ST1300. These bottles have a tapered funnel shaped lid. I always slip a piece of clear plastic tubing over the end of the tapered lid, put the other end in the fill hole and pour it in. No muss, no fuss.

If you go to your local beauty supply store they have these great tapered squeeze bottles (I think they use them for hair coloring) that hold more than enough to fill the FD. Cost about a buck IIRC and will probably outlast the bike. Have used them for years on my various beemers.
